Camera phone pics

I don't have a cable to connect my phone to my computer so is there a way to post pics on BF I took with it while riding?

BTW: I asked about getting such a cable and the guy at the Verizon store said he'd never heard of any cable to connect a phone to a computer.

Can you send it via a message? I do that sometimes....send it to an e-mail address, and then you can save it wherever you need to.

+1 MV! That's what I do. Take the pic, and send it to my email address. Then I download it, save it, and upload it as an attachment....

If you have a newer verizon phone you may have an option to upload to pic place in addition to sending as a message. Depending on your plan one may cost more or less $/ Then you can logon at verizonwireless.com and look at your photoalbum and it should be there.

Even if you have a cable verizon phones sometimes don't let you copy out off of or onto. The software and hardware is very closed compared to other carriers from what I have seen.

Before I got my current phone (Sony Ericsson W810i), which came with a data cable, I set up a Flickr account that I'd email the pics to. I'm with AT&T, though, so I don't know how Verizon's Multi-Media Messaging works. I had to pay for the amount of data I was sending ($.01/kb).

I hope I don't sound like a shill, but the nice thing about Windows Mobile phones is that there are a good number of ways to transfer images from the phone to the computer. I can E-mail the image, sftp it, hook it up to the computer via a mini USB cable, copy it to the memory card, put the card in an adapter and plug it in, browse to a website on the phone and upload it, etc.

If really bored, and the phone is on my local network, I can even open a network share to my Linux samba box, and copy files from the phone to that.

I *think* Blackberries can do the same, but not sure. I don't have much experience with them, but I do know that they are the most secure phones out there.

It will be free if you email it like others have stated because with basic verizon you get like 10 free picture messages.

Mlts22-Yes blackberries can do the same, also you can plug them into the computer and use the internet feature on your laptop anywhere you get service.

+1 on what make/model

You should be able to get a camera to pc cable. Espcially for newer phones which should have a mini usb port anyway (there was some agreement between manufacturers).

edit: there's also wireless connection to the pc via either bluetooth or wifi but only if your phone has those built in.

If you have Verizon, you can send it to PixPlace and retrieve it from there.

Depending on your phone, you have a couple options.

E-mail via pic message to your e-mail account.

Transfer to a memory card and plug that into a card reader (that's what I do, my phone has a micro-SD).

Use a bluetooth OBEX transfer protocol (Razr V3's have this, I believe).

Data cable.

Maybe its just my innate wariness, but I am leery of photo services (be it any, such as HP's, Kodak's, or Verizon's.) If the photo is confidential (or just a photo I don't want in the front page of some tabloid later on in life), I don't want it slapped over a third party server whose security is unknown to me.

Now, to remedy this, someone needs to make a battery powered Flash hard disk that one can access via Bluetooth, so you can just drag and drop your pics from your memory card to the storage device.

I'm very confused here. Doesn't every phone come with a minisd or microsd? I haven't seen a mobile phone for more than 5 years that doesn't.

Mine came with a Memory Stick Pro Duo card. I need an adapter to be able to read it in my computer, so I just use the data cable, which isn't as fast, but it works.

The iPhone is the only upper-end phone I know of that doesn't have space for a memory card.

I think most phones have a slot; however Verizon doesn't give you one but they will gladly sell you one for $20 over retail price

use a real camera instead of the crappy cell phone camera.

why should I have to pay to send myself a picture ? or purchase a cable to download it ?

haven't tried the blue tooth thing. should work with my LG Chocolate phone ?

No cable for it? It is bluetooth enabled? If your computer is bluetooth enabled then it can connect (dunno, atmospherically or sumwhat) and get the pictures off your cell. That's how I get the photos off my phone.

But you can get a usb bluetooth thingy to plug into your computer to retrieve pics off a bluetooth phone.

Only if the phone supports the right Bluetooth protocols, which not all do.
