Godbanned me!

Hi:

Rain in my neck of the woods shorted out my phone line, and today it keeps going out. Sometimes I can get online and sometimes not.

I have the phone co. technician coming out tomorrow, knowing my luck he won't be able to find the problem because it won't replicate. Intermitant electrical problems are really a pain.

Anyway, in case you all missed me that is why.

Steven

Old, crappy phone lines are the pits. For a while there, the phonelines in this house went ape**** whenever it rained. The handsets would crackle loudly or cut out completely, the phone would ring for no reason, and worst of all, the DSL modem couldn't maintain a connection with the line all staticky.

We've had the same problems at work. Anytime it rained our phone lines would go out. Many customers wouldn't get there beer the next day. Made the next day a real pain for me.

Copper and water don't mix when you are trying run electrical current over the copper, I know surprise. Interestingly enough old cooper phone lines use to be insulated with paper or a paper type insulation. Dig up the copper in you in you neighborhood and recycle that stuff and make you phone co install FTTH (Fiber To The Home).

All our phone lines in my town are attached to poles, they keep promising to change the lines but not yet.

Just Recently they ran a fiber optic cable through our area, (80 yds from my house) and they refuse to allow any small town to access it. Oh well,,,,,, some day.
