My work has so many sites that are commonly used, I lost track. Youtube, TheOnion, nearly all file hosting websites, any site related to games or even has the word "game" embedded somewhere in the URL, etc....

I was surprised they didn't block flickr, and yesterday I found out that google has a similar service (with much bigger storage) called Picasso. Picasso (apparently Google bought Picasso out and integrated it with their web service) gives 1 GB storage for pics. Since Flickr recently gave me issues about storage (apparently I finished my trial service, which I didn't even know I was in), I will likely be switching over to Picasso.

Just be glad they didn't block BikeForums entirely! My workplace doesn't allow Photobucket either, although Flick'r photos still come through. But at least I can still see BF at work .

Now, now, Lowcel - I didn't even HEAR that in the Gov's SOTS speech last night, so I am supposing that instead of looking at bikes at work, he expects you to have a healthy life style & ride your bike up and down the hallways........

Uhmmm, yeah, what a gov.

Keep in mind we aren't even allowed to have bicycles inside the building. There is no place safe to keep them here, that is one of the big reasons I traded my truck in recently. I got tired of risking having my bikes stolen out of the back of my truck (1/4 mile away in a parking lot in the middle of Charleston). Now I have the Element I can keep them somewhat safe inside the vehicle. Much less for me to worry about every day.

Exactly what did you hear in the speech last night? None of us heard much of anything.

Hehe, I work in a very specific industry where we do have downtime, it is acknowledged, and it is written that it is okay to do things during downtime that aren't related to work (of course there is a set of guidelines that goes with it). Anyway, our department has had things REVERSED when the IT guys block something.

I'm mostly doing road rides right now trying to shed some pounds to help me get ready for road season. Races start February 16th. I'm hoping to have at least 800 - 900 miles in by then. They are going to be here in no time if I'm ready for them or not. A lot of my road rides consist of riding the road in the forest though. I've been known to take my road bike on the trails in Kanawha State Forest as well though.

Being able to see pictures of bikes isn't quite important enough for me to risk losing my job over.

Can you get out on term services? Perhaps you can term into your home PC then browse from there. Of course once you read this your boss will know that you are doing that as well. My 9 year old daughter says that by doing this she can circumvent the schools' filtering system--

do an image search on google and do something like this for your search--
site: photobucket.com bicycle

You might try anonomizers too.

This is NOT a good idea if you value your job. The host is being block from your company for a reason. To skirt around in place security could very well be against your company’s policies.

I woudl agree, we have some pretty strict rules in place here, and while not everything is explicitly blocked there is an assumtion of mature usage. We log all internet usage and block the more obvious...there is always a chance someone will catch you doing something against the rules.

I've been using www.gotomypc.com for quite some time - use it to "window" a remote session of your home PC and there won't be a trace, other than the access to the GOTMYPC client.

Logmein is another service that's highly rated and free, but you cannot transfer file.

The most desireable idea is to get a fresh proxy or use an alternate proxy:

I have dial up at home so that is not an option. I'm really not trying to figure out a way around the block, I'm just complaining. I like to do that from time to time.
