Reason #79372231657565413b to really appreciate not watching television.

Feist - 1,2,3,4... though I would argue that it's not a horrible song at all.

Feist is actually (or was) pretty indie, her song are not of my taste, but my fiance knows her music quite well (and has a much better ear than me) and loves her stuff.

1,2,3,4 is one of those songs that blows all the really good ones out of your head.

Kinda like the modern equivalent of "Brand New Key".

Sometime between 6 months and a year ago...although the more I think about it the more I suspect it was closer to the latter -- I was up late at night watching the local cable access channel, who were playing pop music videos. Feist's "1234" came on. I had never heard, much less seen, this tune before, and I found myself transfixed & enthralled -- not so much for the song, which I guess was notable for being cute without cutesy, bland without boring, and cleanly executed without being overly-polished -- but by the video, which either really is or at least is designed to make you think it is a single continuous camera shot, including all those crane dives, and especially by the choreography, which is wonderfully, mercifully antithetical to the whole post-hip/hop street-jazz dance aesthetic. It looks like a cross between American folk dancing and first semester students at the Bennington modern dance department. I made a note on my computer: "cool tune, even cooler video"

And then the iPod Nano commercial happened and everything good I remember about that night of TV watching has been extinguished.
