Who should I pay for my domain name???

I have business web site with it's own domain that I have always registered with Network Services even though it is hosted by Yahoo. I keep getting offers to renew my registration from various companies. Can someone explain this to me?

They're trying to warn you about how evil Network Solutions is?

If you're happy with Network Solutions I would stay, not because they aren't crappy but because they refuse to let customers move and generally make it a hassle if you try moving.

You ever gotten those mail offers where they tell you, you have to pay them 130 bucks to register your domain now!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The technical side behind that is robots pull information from the Domain Registy(ies) and then this info is put into databases and sent off as either e-mail mailers or actual letter mailers. Few companies even actually make phone calls. The latter are usually offering something more. They're not all bad but I'd personally be wary of them, especially if you're happy with your current provider.

Don't run red lights, wear a helmet, use hand signals, get some cycle lights(front and rear) and, FFS, don't run red lights!

Ever since Registerfly tried to fly away with my domain names, I have moved all my domains to godaddy.com. They have the best price and I am yet to have any problems with them. I used to have one domain with Register.com that cost me $20 for first year and now they want $35 for a year. So I called and told them how ridiculous and ludicrous their prices were. They had no better explanation for why. So I moved that domain to godaddy as well.

I pay no more than $10 per domain per year there.

I use godaddy as well, and also use their privacy option (stops you getting that junk mail).

Plain and simple, they're trying to get the business away from Network Services.

yes GoDaddy although I actually use their (Be Your Own Registrar) option and not them directly.
