Ummm. I'm sorry, how can an animal sue a person? What were they expecting? If they could sue, what would they win? Money? What will a monkey do with money?SAN ANTONIO -- A Texas appeals court has affirmed an earlier decision that says nine chimpanzees and monkeys do not have the legal right to sue.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals attempted to get legal standing for the primates, saying the condition of their sanctuary was substandard. The chimps were transferred to Primarly Primates sanctuary in San Antonio in 2006 from Ohio State University.
The appeals court affirmed the lower court decision Wednesday, dismissing the case.
PETA says it's considering whether to appeal.
The chimps and monkeys were moved to a sanctuary in Louisiana during the lawsuit.
