<snicker>

Even with 3-5 2-gallon tanks of stationary water (for Betta fish) and my roommates running a 5' high 3' wide wall fountain --- this house is dry. My below shoulder length hair attacks me in the morning, I schnizzle the wizzle outta the 5 cats in the house's noses. My own cat (he has long hair) is taking a leave of absence from me and prefers the roommates quarters versus mine. Hmmmph.

And my below shoulder length hair has taken on it's own life. Mornings are tough when I separate myself from the pillow and I walk to the bathroom mirror only to look up at a Medusa, and BTW I've also shocked a couple of kittens into submission as I stumble across the floor looking for the bathroom.

Eh, darn kitties, they should know better by now. And why is it when they touch their little nose to you - and a big crack of electricity erupts ---- they look at you - like you did it. Big freakin' meanie! Sheesh!

What does help, even with all the water around me - and this house is dry compared to my old house last winter - I think a vat of some slow cooking stock that will evolve into a soup or some other concoction is in order this weekend. Have to say - when I cooked on the weekends last year - I did not experience this kind of static electricity as I am now. Out of 5 kitties - I only have one "stupid" one who is still willing to let me pet her - or is willing to be shocked by me, apologized too and petted and then shocked again for reinforcement!

Hallllle yeah. Static electricity --- stinks

Oh yeah and I've, even with computer protections - have ZOTTED/shorted out my keyboard with a nice ZOT and for a few years running - my mother (who insists on wearing these funny slippers that have a furry sole on them - and she basically shuffles across the rug - well - we know what happens now ..) has shorted out three telephones. Saw one magnificant one - a spark of electricty that arced about 6 inches long - didn't harm her - but killed the phone - and I must say - we had one HELL of a good laugh when we relived her experience.

Tude! OMG, you two sound like some mutant version of ElectraWoman and DynaGirl!

[Note: that's one of those Saturday shows I used to watch with the kids I was babysitting]

I hate static electricity, too. This is the season to switch from nylon to cotton. And sometimes even crank up the humidifier....

I'm wearing nothing but cotton and STILL generating sparks. Not those big zappers, but just enough to make things smart for a second.

+10000 volts

The last few days here have been horrible. I've shocked myself with a decent jolt at least about 10 times in the last 2 days.

:rolfmao: .. This was in CO, and it tends to be rather dry there. I met this girl in and I shook hands and BAM.. Palpable tension? We ended up dating for a few months ..

Was she dumb enough to think it was a magical spark between you two? You went a whole few months before her stupidity didn't annoy you? She must have had "other qualities".

Static Electricity doesn't make sense. Static means not moving and electricity means the flow of electrons.

Nah it was just my irresistible charm . It gets better, we had not yet started dating at this point but I asked her to go running with me since I heard that she likes running. Anyway 2 miles and 15 minutes later, I waved her on through as I was holding her back! She was an ex-NCAA cross country runner . She did find it rather funny though.

The reason we stopped dating was because I moved to MA .

I have a whole house humidifier on my heating system. I leave it in the ON position all through the winter even though it has a cheesy humidistat. Still my house reads dry on the hydrometers that i have. It's hard to moisturize tons of dry air. But still, i notice a difference. We don't have any static electricity at home and dry throats, skin etc. seems to be diminished.
