Buyers beware: The Macbook Air.

Yeah, it rhymes.

Beware of the ebay sellers offering a Macbook Air. It won't be available for a few weeks, and people are already selling them for WAY more than they are worth. There's a catch: The auction states in tiny writing at the bottom that you are bound to the ebay terms and HAVE to pay what you bid, for product that "will ship when available".

Get it?

You bid $2800 (plus $75 shipping(Apple ships for free)) for a $1700 computer that will arrive AFTER it has already shipped to someone.

Order from Apple, and you will get it before Gay Ray and the Flamers can ship to the poor(rich) ******* paying $1100 more than he should have. Srsly.

Ah, stupid people. Making annoying people rich since... well, forever. eBay just makes it faster.

It's the notebook computer that used to have a cool name (Powerbook) but now has a goofy, lame name. (But is, by most accounts, still a cool computer, despite the name.)

I <3 my McBook. I do not <3 McBooks enough to get a Diet McBook, though. Hell, I upgraded to this from a G3 Wallstreet. The way I look at it, this McBook should last me a good 5 more years before I need to upgrade again.

Yeah, but before the iBook, low-end notebooks were called Powerbook.

Isn't the Air more of a pro-level machine, anyway, just without the name? I haven't looked much into it, honestly.

Powerwise, it's a MacBook. Price and lookswise, it's a Pro. They figure it's the middle of the lines. I think it's a good idea, and they'll sell a ton, but it's definitely going to be a niche market though.

I'll definitely be interested to see how durable such a thin little bugger can be. It would scare the hell out of me (especially at that price), but I'm sure Apple has it pretty well figured.

If you opt for the 64GB SSD, all you need to worry about is cracking the screen.

I'll be all over it in about 3 generations. Looks like the perfect computer to take on tour and use your cell phone as a tether.

Ah yes, I forgot about that. I'll be very happy when those finally come down in price. Even if they don't go up in capacity. I would [heart] a completely silent boot drive.
