Import CD to I Tunes question...

ok, so when I insert a cd into the computer, the drive reads it and the song titles appear in iTunes. Each one has a little check mark in the box to the left of the song title. If I click import...all the titles are imported. Is there a way to remove all the checks in the little boxes in one motion rather than having to manually remove the checks next to the tracks that I don't want?

Good question. I will assume you don't like the brute force method of just importing the entire CD and then deleting the unwanted songs ..

The thought of not importing an entire CD never crossed my mind. You try lifehacker?

Select all the songs (highlight them), right click (or control-click on a Mac), "Uncheck Selection". Then just check the song you want and hit import.

Send itunes to the trash and install Exact Audio Copy.

Using a Mac:

"curly q" + "A"
Right click
uncheck selection

That'll be $10.

Kick Windows to the curb, and just use LAME directly. Sheesh.

You're very welcome.

Exact Audio Copy + LAME at alt-preset-standard, or whatever preset you like is the absolute best bang for the buck I have found.

Barring that, ripping to variable rate WMA is next, because WMA stores more info per byte than MP3. However, WMA isn't really a standard.

Is harddrive space an issue?

FYI, change the settings to import CDs as MP3's and not Apple's M4P format, it'll save you mucho hassle when if you want to use a non-Apple music player.
