in order to enable these functions, you need to soak your macbook in water for at least 3 hours... after that, the apple key plus X (cut), C (copy), and V ( paste) works.

uhm.. mine doesn't appear to have comed with an 'apple key' -- seriously (wtf?).. It has a Command key, an Option/alt key, a Control key and a ln key -- and all the other keys that you would expect to find as well -- but NO apple key. none.

The command key is sometimes referred to as the Apple key. At one point, it has the four-point swirl and an Apple logo, but the latter may not be there anymore.

Command-X/C/V is what you want.

First you buy a PC, you can't copy & paste with a Mac.

Obviously you haven't read this or this.

Many of the Bill Gates type shortcuts are available on the MacBook.
To get many of the "right click" features, place two fingers on the touchpad and press the button. Presto, more shortcuts!!

So now it takes 2 fingers on the touchpad? um....yeah, that's progress....lets see....2 fingers+ hot key.
PC = CTRL+hotkey. Seems simpler to me

First you buy a PC mouse, the 2 button kind. Highlight>right click>copy>paste. Its just like a PC mouse except it is.

ctrl+click is the same as right click for apple. that should give you what you are looking for. (note: the apple key is not the same as ctrl as some have said).

btw, the CTRL+X/C/V are not Bill Gates shortcuts, These key sequences were used at PARC (Xerox's Palo Alto Research Center) which incidentally developed the windowing paradigm that Apple and Microsoft both copied. Xerox gave up on it thinking there was no market.

UNIX uses them too, and X11 has been around for a long while. However, even though control x, control c, and control v are used, its still the convention to auto-copy on selecting text, and using the middle mouse button for pasting.

Yeah, the mouse-interface was actually developed before the CTRL copy/cut/paste keyboard sequences. Around the early-'70s by SRI - Standford Research Institute. They freed themselves from the University and became SRI International.

And Apple didn't actually 'steal' the GUI from Xerox's Alto or Star computers. They just hired the engineers responsible, namely Bruce Horn and Jef Raskin . Steve Jobs had actually started working on the Lisa's GUI well before his visit to Xerox PARC. He only saw a Smalltalk development system, many years before the Alto or Star came into being. Apple actually paid Xerox a large bundle of stock for their collaboration (worth millions).
