    There will be blood

Anyone else watch it. It was OK but no where the #18 rating on IMDBs top 250. The progression of the character was interesting and well done but apart from that, it didnt do much for me.

OK, but I kept thinking Daniel Day-Lewis was channeling his Gangs of New York role which was distracting.

I thought DD Lewis's performance was excellent. The director did an excellent job throughout most of the movie.

The movie suffered from a weak story line which obviously put the director in a difficult position toward the end of the film. The last scenes reminded me more of Clockwork Orange than of the first half of the film.

Its awesome!!!!! I wouldn't mind seeing it again in the theater.

In his choice of dialect- it is much more John Huston than Bill the Butcher.

I saw it, and I was impressed. The music was a little out of place, though. In the first 10 seconds, I was thinking, "Is this supposed to be a horror movie?" Creeped me out.

    There were some hilarious one-liners.

Yeah. I was completely expecting somebody's screaming bloody mug appear all of a sudden on the screen.

I was really psyched to see this movie but was totally disappointed. Daniel Day Lewis is an amazing actor but he must have said half the words in the entire movie. It was basically him talking again and again and again. Plus the story had a pretty bad arc, some major character is introduced like 2/3rds into the movie, the conflict with his son is resolved pretty poorly, and it seemed to end very abruptly like they ran out of time making the movie. Anyways, I give it two thumbs down because it should have been good, had the talent to be awesome, and was merely so-so.

I agree with your assessment generally speaking (see above) but I think two thumbs down is harsh. This movie is still worth seeing. The opening hour or so is fantastic.

I was really interested in seeing the old timey way they constructed oil derricks.
