The New York Who?...Are they the same Mets who had that immortal collapse last year? Santana or not, they are not going to win a pennant this year.

Sorry Pcad.

I just burned a copy of Santana Live at the Fillmore '68 onto my computer today. Never ceases to amaze me what they have at the local library.

Damn fine jams.

I think his best years are behind him. That's not saying that I don't think he'll pitch well and make a contribution to the Mets. I just think that he is at or even slightly past the high point of his career and wasn't worth what Minnesota wanted in exchange from Boston to get him. He's not a big framed guy at around 185lbs and throws hard, so he's going to be more prone to injuries. So as long as he didn't go to the YANK-ees...then I'm fine with it.

Uh huh. He turns 29 years old in March. He's clearly over the hill. I'm sure he only has 2-3 more Cy Young in him, but that will be it.

They are honest, hardworking men, and they live a hard life. But it is a life of freedom, and there is much to be said for that. OHhh, those Cowboys, never mind.

Wow, 16/20 spoke wheels on a tandem? You must have to true the wheels after every ride. Hell, during!

If he wins two more CY Young Awards, I'll print this and eat my words. I'll give you he's only 29...but his stats have been on the decline and he is not a very big guy, who throws very hard. The Mets are definitely a better team with him on it no question about that. I just don't think he's worth what they paid for him. He is the most coveted pitcher because there were not many top starters on the free agent market this year. Of course he is the best pitcher out there who was available. You have your opinion...I have mine. Let's leave it at that.

My opinion is warped by sheer Mets fan desperation, hot stove league madness, and day-off-the-bike endorphin withdrawal. After a ride tomorrow I will realize cycle17 is right, the Mets have traded their entire future for an over-rated, over-paid pitcher who will never have an ERA under 4.00 again, and I will slide back into deep winter depression.

Until Sunday when the Giants upset the Pats in the Super Bowl.

I'm in shock! Pcad has waivered...even if ever so slightly in his opinion on something! pcad... are you all right? Go take your temperature! Stat! LOL

I may be totally wrong about Johan...time will tell. Like I said, he was the best pitcher available and the Mets got him so they should be a better team with him as their ace.

Hey, at least the Mets have an ace now who's under age 35. It gets a little spooky when your big pitchers are guys like El Duque, Glavine and Martinez who are either over 40 or coming back from a career threatening injury. This is what the Mets are thinking: add Santana and you have a core starting rotation of young quality pitchers in Santana, Maine, and Hernandez. Get another 2 good years out of Pedro and you have time to find another younger guy to fill in the slot if he leaves. And who knows? Pedro may go another 4 good seasons. Potentially this move shores up the Mets rotation for the next 4 years or so.

I think this will be the move that puts the Metsies over the top. Sounds good on paper anyway. That's why they play the games.

Cycle, you're a little heavy on the Trek hardware. What are you the Bontrager Kid?
