Cheaters

If there is video evidence of a team cheating at the Superbowl, should they be stripped of their championship?

Hey, if Landis loses his championship and if Marion loses her's, then they should also. Cheating is cheating.

That would depend upon the particular infraction. If it's a foul or penalty within the course of the game that wasn't called by the referees, that's just part of the game. It happens. If it's something else, that might make a difference.

I say they keep the title, but lose their franchise. That's right. Take them off the schedule permanently.

I suspect the OP is referring to the 2002 Patriots allegedly filming the RAM's walkthrough practice.

At any rate, yes, the NFL without the giants would be fine. Makes room for another expansion team.

I think the Patriots got off too easy for filming the Jets defensive signals. I would have pulled their franchise, or maybe sent them home for the rest of the season. Oh, how about just cancel all their home games for 12 months. Automatic forfeit to whoever they would have played.

Cheaters. Imagine if they had won the Super Bowl. Perfect season. But wait there was that scandal midway through the season where they were caught cheating. Put an asterisk by it.

Edit: Let's start a petition to change their name from New England Patriots to New England Cheaters.

There was cheating?! Say it ain't so! Welp, the ship has sailed, then. Shut down the NFL, bomb the stadiums, and shoot all the players and their dealers.

The worst part is listening to the people who don't even like football(or any sports at all).

I'm over it for the most part. Most of that awful feeling went away after I took some Pepto Bismol. 308 ounces of IPA have that effect on me.

It sounds like it could get ugly quick. Patriots withheld evidence according to current rumors. NFL head office did a very substandard investigation. It is not a one year thing. Pats may have been recording since before their first superbowl win.

I think they should be stripped of all the wins if it turns out to be true and verifiable that they taped the opposition and used that information to predict the defensive schemes and radio'd that information to the quarterback during games.

I agree. I can see people enjoying watching games and everything, but I don't get taking it so personally, making a huge deal of it, or being a "dedicated, hardcore, lifelong fan" of a certain team.

To each their own, of course. I've just always thought it a bit odd, is all.

The NFL is way too pompous. They will find a way around it and make money from it too - and slap the team on the hand to make some people satisfied. Loss of fans = loss of money.

I gotta agree with you. This is getting ugly and it might cause them to be more hated than the Cowboys.

If it turns out that Belichick did video the walkthrough, I think he should get a liftime ban from the sport. Robert Kraft is a very classy man, and he doesn't believe in winning at any cost.

I wasn't talking about this sort of thing, but it's sickening that the play that's now being called the best play in Superbowl history, should have been negated by a holding call. Actually there were at least 3 obvious holds on that play.
