New puppy ... maybe

Here's a picture of the puppy we'll be getting soon ... I hope. We've talked to the breeder who has a litter of 5 Jack Russells and I guess we were the first ones to get accepted (with our application) and therefore get first pick of the litter. We had to go through an application process which took quite a while including references. Everything checked out and we're now good to go.

This cutie is our top pic from the photos, however we're going to see what their personalities are like on Saturday. Very exciting!

[edit] she's 5 weeks old in this photo. We won't be able to take her home until she's 8-9 weeks old.

I completely agree. We're hoping to get our Jack into flyball and lure course competitions, so we're hoping to get a spunkier puppy. Although we don't want too aggressive of a dog either.

Jack russell! Seriously one of my favorite breeds ever. Never got over the whole Wishbone thing I guess...
I have a hard time supporting breeders, I don't mean to start some huge argument over it, but have you considered spca or a humane society?

Definitely. We got our first dog when she was 1 year old from an SPCA in Saskatchewan. She turned out to be a great dog! We are strong supporters of our local SPCA by donating money, food and blankets.

However, we spent quite a while now checking out our local SPCA's in the area and cannot find any that are right for us. We have driven to 4 different cities to check out their SPCA's. Most of the dogs are larger breeds which are too large for our home and yard. We are continuing to search though as we would like to get a second dog and would prefer it to come from a Humane Society.

You'll definitely get a lot of spunk out of that dog.

Awesome, sorry you haven't been able to find one yet. Our Humane Society seems to get alot of Beagle mixes and herding mixes, which is 2/3 of the dogs I am looking for to get next semester. Jack Russell is the 3rd choice.

Our dog Snoopy was a terrier / beagle mix (more terrier than beagle). She was an unbelieveably great dog. You can check out her video here. Word of warning, this video is my wife's memorial video for Snoopy. A tear jerker if you're a dog lover.

Looks like a monster - and I mean that in the best possible way - in other words, lots of personality. Should be a lot of fun!

She looks like she was a load of fun! I have an Australian shepard/beagle mix at home, I'm a sucker for smart/hyper dogs.

Thanks. Actually I haven't seen the Christmas ending yet. I tear up way before that point. Hopefully in time I'll be able to watch the whole video.

Nice looking dog. I just adopted one from a local shelter:

http://www.smileydogrescue.org/bluew...ls.asp?id=2757

Not sure what breeds she's got in her, but she is smart, friendly and needs to learn some manners. About what you'd expect from a shelter dog. I picked her up on Saturday, and we're having a blast.

Also a beautiful dog ... for that matter there aren't too many ugly ones out there. The main beagle trait that our dog exhibited was constantly sniffing the ground when we went for a walk. She looked like a hoover vacuum.
