Anyone else take this seriously?

I don't know why, but ever since I was little and have been able to use the phone I always took someone hanging up on you as a very disrespectful thing to do, like on par with spitting in someone's face or crapping in their sandwitch. No matter how angry I ever get, I never hang up on people, at least not on purpose, I at least give them the respect of telling bye and I need to go. So what's up with people hanging up on you because they are moody punks? Some dude calls me a sec ago, wanted to know if I was coming to something and basically in the middle of my reply I hear "click" I guess because I said I probably could make it unless I felt bad(I've been really sick and have had migraines all week) and then today felt really terrible and decided not to go.

Dang I've been pmsy all week. Been sportin a 100+ degree fever off and on coupled by lack of sleep. Bleh.

I don't hang up on people. Telemarketers don't count as people.

+1

I'm the exact same way. Yes, people can say that telemarketing jobs fill jobs, but so does drug dealing.

I don't usually have issues with people hanging up on me because they are angry with me or frustrated. That is really rare.

There is one person though, that when I tell him I have to go, he says "okay" and then *click*. No goodbye or anything.

THAT to me is rude.

Shoot I don't even really hang up on telemarketers, I just quickly interrupt them and say goodbye. Hanging up on someone is extremely rude. My temper gets horrible when I'm sick, too, but being hung up on would get my goat even on my best day.

Telemarketers I handle a different way. First of all, I ask them their name and the company name again and to ask them to spell it out. Then I tell them I'm on the "no call" list and report this call. That always freaks them out. They don't want to get that fine.

If it is someone asking for donations (exempt from no call list) or trying to do a questionnaire, I just start speaking to them in some made up Chinese. The result is usually "uh.......I uh........Okaythankyouforparticipatinggoodbye"

At the shop we get telemarketers daily trying to sell "business enhancements" or yellow pages ads, as if putting up an Open sign makes you a sitting duck. When they ask if the owner is there, whether he is or not I say, "No, may I ask who is calling?" Seven times out of ten they hang up right there.

The ones that get me are those that won't hang up, trying to hook you into giving out or "verifying information they already have", then signing you up for something. They almost always start off with, "Is there someone there with the authority to make financial decisions?" Sure, I could just hang up (and sometimes do) but that also goes against what I feel is polite behavior. I've become better at how to handle them, such as when they try to give me their entire spiel, I always state firmly that I am not interested in ordering anything, but offer to take down their number so the owner can call them back. If they hang up, I know it was bogus.

i do when my aunt tells me to drop out of college and get a full time job even though i'm only a semester from graduating. of course, then she'll ***** at me for not making more than $6 an hour when i ask for money (supposing i were to do that) so... you see, some people are meant to be hung up on.
