Vista/Youtube

Ever since I upgraded to vista, youtube will load up and then play two seconds of video. I click to advance and it plays another two seconds. So I can watch the whole thing if I click a hundred times. Any guesses on how to fix it other than installing ubuntu?

Happens with all Youtube clips? Then ensure Vista has all updates installed and then track down what is causing slowness in you net connection.

Happens with only some Youtube clips? The walk away from terminal and click 'replay' when you come back later, after it's finished buffering.

YouTube working just fine with Vista here.

If I could track down whjat was causing it, I wouldn't need you guys

I've got a very high aspeed connection - it's done buffering in a few seconds. Walking away would do nothing.

I have a connection here, too, fast enough to load stuff quicker than it can be viewed. Very occasionally, though, I come across individual clips on YouTube which take a lot longer to load. That was the reason for the comment. It was a serious one.

Doesn't particularly matter much how fast your connection is of the slowdown is at the other end.

true! But it affects all clips, and doesn't matter if they're completely buffered or not. Also, it doesn't affect any other video hosting sites - just youtube.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

It's not Vista....I have never had an issue with youtube. I did have some issues resulting from Circuit City "optimizing" my window's Vista, though

Do you have any security or spy-ware software that recently updated?

I had an occurrence once when my spy-ware app updated, it considered YouTube to be a known spy-ware source and it disabled the site and nothing worked. I told the app that YouTube was okay and it has been working ever since.

It could be a firewall program too, where it cuts in after a connection lasts a bit.

Do YouTube clips on other websites work?

Also, consider blowing away the Flash Player directory in your \Users\Username\Appdata\Roaming\Macromedia folder to reset preferences. I know this gets corrupted, then causes YouTube vids to have no sound.

It's a known problem with flash and vista, do some googling and you'll find some info...
