Old folks' pearls of wisdom

I heard two southern colloquialisms today I haven't heard in a while.

"There is no wisdom in the second kick of a mule".

"Never sleep with a mean person, you never know when you will fall in love".

What have y'all heard from the fogies that made you cock your head like the RCA Victor dog?

I don't know if health care from a glass of whisky with a raw egg in it is a pearl of wisdom or a plea for help from the modern era...

In my best Aw Shucks voice,,,,,, I only made a comment about the opposite sex, if I had been a girl/female/woman/whatever I would have specified a man. Nothing personal at all.

Back on track

From my 80 year old mother.

White trash, always trash.

And East Hill

I just figured out that my post, coming after yours could have been seen to have been aimed at you, and nothing could be further from the truth. I did not aim it at you. Sometimes I am dense but I sure did not want to insult you.

I've always been fond of "When you lie down with *****es you get up with itches."

When I was getting ready to move to Texas, I was excited about making up my own homespun wisdom. The best I came up with was "You can put your boots in the oven, but that don't make them biscuits." I'm not sure what it's supposed to mean exactly, but I would love for it to really take off.
