I hate the human body

So last summer my wife and I bought a house and did a boatload of renovations, which, along with a trip to Holland and a bunch of other stuff, seriously cut into our cycling time. This year we're committed to getting a serious amount of riding in, so in the off season, I watched my diet, got a lot of additional exercise in, rode the trainer some, rode a bit in bad weather, lost 16 lbs (soon to be 20), all to prepare for this summer.

But now that the nice weather is here, it turns out that my left knee is F'd, and I have no idea why. It hurts when I bend over to pick something up. It hurts when I cross my legs. It hurts when I ride, whether spining or climbing out of the saddle. It pretty much hurts (randomly) whenever I'm awake.

I guess it's time to go see a specialist. Talk about annoying. Maybe I can get in there with a little superglue and get things sorted.

Or duct tape. Duct tape fixes everything.

Bummer that your knee is messed up, I hope it's not serious.

Be nice to your wife tomorrow, then maybe if you're lucky enough you will get reminded at how much you love the female body.

My knee has been bothering me too. (Un)fortunately I've been too busy to get much riding in so it hasn't benched me yet.

It sucks to be old enough to start having pain yet never having grown up.

Those look like fun. Pity I have no upper body strength.

Ice the knee. Get one of those reusable ice packs with a Velcro pouch and wrappy thinggy so you can bassically wear the ice pack. Those things help a lot. Also, try an ice bath. Yes, an ice bath. Fill your bathtub up to about 1/4 full, take all the ice from the freezer and dump in there, put on some wool socks and an old pair of cycling shorts (keeps "down there" from giving you nasty messages) and then just soak in it for 15 minutes. You go numb after about a minute and after that, it isn't too bad. But trust me. It works. Enjoy

Whoah!

I nearly misread the thread title as "I ate the human body"

you need msm, glucosamine, chondroition, hyaluronic acid, collard greens, black strap molasses, norwegian cod liver oil, and golden raisins that have been soaked in gin for a week (i don't know if that last one works. it's hard to get hard liquor around here and i haven't tried it yet)

No...duct tape fixes half of everything. WD-40 fixes the other half:

1) If it's supposed to move, but doesn't...use WD-40

2) If it's not supposed to move, but does...use duct tape

Apparently there are some people using hand cycles for upper body workouts. I've seen some "before/after 1 year of hand cycle use" photos, and those guys look incredible. I wish they weren't so damn expensive.

I've got a bottle of pills containing those first three. The things are huge and you're supposed to take three a day. I guess if I took that much of anything, something's bound to happen.

I suppose it beats a knife though.
