Serenity

What is your definition of serenity?

Mr Smashy's photo is one pictorial of that for me.

Hm, can't decide... for me, there's something about looking into a horse's eye that makes me forget everything else in the world... but I love looking out to an endless ocean.

I had no idea there was that much detail.. I have the series on dvd, and it looks great. But not that good...Maybe they'll Blu-ray it one of these days.

No. Rivers go downhill. This is clearly an uphill body of water.

More like 4 or 5 degrees. That's was my instant thought as well, I did it in photoshop last night and then reclipped the photo. Then realized smashy doesn't care.

I'm sure there are other programs that can do this, but i use Capture One to convert my RAW's and one of the neat features of that program is this little horizon tool. It's basically just a line that you "create" with your mouse (click), you drag it across the horizon and the program automatically straightens it based on the slant of that line. Good stuff, takes the guessing out of doing it in PS.

It's funny that you corrected me because it really is a learned art (IE the ability to guess right in as few attempts as possible), interestingly i think i do it a lot less now because i've really tried to work hard on keeping my horizons straight. I noticed i was unconsciously correcting for this during a basketball game the other day, which says a lot for how i've come along in that regard given the fact that this was during an "action" shoot and i use to have slanted landscapes back in the day...
