Do you ever get buyer's remorse before buying stuff?

I've been trying to save some money for a nice set of wheels for my bike. But as I approach the end I find myself wondering if I shouldn't spend the money and just save it instead. Or better yet... use the money for other things or more of other things instead of just one big purchase!

I know, save your money and don't buy anything. But this money is basically my personal play money stash so I use it for items for my bike and other things I want but may not need!!

But sometimes I think that I do want it but I have second thoughts. I did this on my new bike I built over the winter but afterwards I was glad I spent the money.

Does anyone else ever feel like that? Feels like buyers remorse but I haven't even bought it yet! Sheesh!

My Mom refers to the unusual activity as "Tag and Drop".

Ya pick up something in the store - I LOVE IT - and walk around with it - g'head touch it - it feels good too - and you walk and ... walk and start to add up what you have in your cart .... and get a sudden chill up the spine ... and start picking things out of the cart - rethinking your purchases - perhaps getting them at a later time and ..... and.... basically ending up coming out of the store with exactly what you went in for ....

I almost always get buyers remorse BEFORE I buy a big ticket item.

I almost NEVER regret something after I've purchased it.

But...I'm stingy. I won't go into debt, etc. So I get time to save up and really really really think about it before I buy it.

I always do, but not always. I'm just worried I might spend it all for something I use once. . . I could name a bunch of stuff but I've been making good choices for a while. Especially my recent bike update, I spent a good amount but it was well worth it.

I never get remorse after I buy something because I always think about he purchase for several months before buying so gives me time to really think things through.

Examples: new car, thinking time 3 months
new bike, 6 months
new computer,3 months
new Mac, 2 years (still habven't bought it)
another new bike, 1 year (still not bought)
new wheels for first bike, 2 month (not bought)
new..

well anyway, you get the idea.

How about I re-phrase and call it imaginary buyers remorse...

or better yet pre-buyers remorse? That sounds closer to what I was thinking.

Would that work better for you?

I guess it's the parting with the money that hurts the most.

I'm kinda like Tude's mom with the Tag and Drop... I'll do the same thing. I'll check it out, pick it up. Have all intentions of buying it and then start to think about the cost and can I get it somehwere else cheaper? Or do I really NEED it vs. can I wait for it. Then many times I'll end up leaving the store with what I came in with... nothing! Sucks!

At this point I'm planning on saving a few bucks more and probably send my wife to the spa so she can enjoy some of the extra I saved. But still have the majority of it so I can get the wheels when I get my next paycheck!

Being indecisive isn't helping much either! LOL!

I would say that as long as you can enjoy the ride then let it slide, because in life there is only one thing, that one thing is now not later not next year.

I have buyer's remorse when I:

1) Opt for the less expensive version of something and regret not buying the higher quality version.
2) Opt for the higher quality version of something and later realize I didn't need it when the lower quality would have been perfectly fine and saved me tons of money.
