I just made a model VERY happy

If you know what I mean.

Actually, I just had one of the best photoshoots I've had yet. I got to give my new lights (hooray Alien Bees!) a workout and got to use some new lighting knowledge bestowed upon me last week by another (quite talented) photographer.

I sent the model one of the photos and she freaked out.

Woot.

It looks a little dark and funky from the compression, but here it is!

Very good work, especially controlling metallic object reflections (especially the knife).

Ever work with HDR photography? I have been thinking of toying with that myself, once I get a decent digital camera, one that can auto-bracket.

is this for a Ginzo knives for Junkies ad, or an Anorexic Clowns trade mag?

Now I get why they call them models...I'd put her at about 2/3 scale.

Great photography work SS. You and a few others here at BF really show me how much talent it takes...and how much I suck.

I didn't know the Michelin Tire Man's wife was a anorexic goth gay pride activist.

Cool...

No, I did classic french fries. The girl eats like a pig. I've fed her a few times. She's just one of those blessed with a high metabolism. Don't be hatin'! Besides, if she weren't skinny, the balloons wouldn't have fit!

The lack of reflection is all about the angle.

HDR is fun, but a bit of a fad...overdone. I do enjoy playing with it, though!

Botto, it's for a super-strong balloon ad.

Lecter, what can I say? The Michelin Man is full of surprises. You should see his "side relationship"!

Allen, Alien Bees certainly do rock!

Dude, it's not talent. Trust me on that one. You work hard, learn a lot, and network like mad. Have a bunch (a HUGE bunch) of crappy shoots. Then you get an idea and finally have the skills to make it work.

I fenced for 14 years...an amateur with a blade don't confront me none!

Here's (18+, NSFW, etc.) a dangerous image! It was a simple double exposure done in a completely dark garage. It was coordinating our movements without her accidentally stabbing me with the knife while she was setting it down that made it interesting.

what makes it NSFW? .. some chic with a knife gesturing towards some dood in a playfully threatening way ... so what, I was hoping for something good - and instead I get some guy with no shirt. How is that going to endanger my job in any way? .. dood, my coworker watches videos of drunk ladies mobbing chip&dales dancers - while she graphically narrates in real time what exactly is taking place with respect to whom. Every week she watches that kind of thing and she still has a job -- so I'm telling you there's really no way that image can get anyone fired. no way dood... not unless you work for the vatican.. no, scratch that. whatever, I'm just rambling at this point.

I believe it's the same gal as in the balloon pic, RH. It's her going after herself. Double exposure. You are such...such...a red house.....

Eddie ~ You do good with your work. I like them.

x136 got it. So did Siu. Red House took a trip on the failboat.

The image was dangerous to take because I had to adjust a light as she was moving around with a knife in the dark. 's all.

Reverse grip, edge-in, very interesting! She should tuck that elbow a bit, though, and make the whole move more like a jab. As shown, it is only the relatively small triceps muscles powering the move; better to get the whole body behind the point, like uncoiling a compressed spring. Oops, sorry, wrong forum! Bikes, not blades. I do like chix with blades.

Actually, her technique is a very rare, interesting one. She uses a dulled knife, really the point is the only dangerous part of it. It's more of a prop and a distraction...her elbows are the real weapons, as they're pointier than any blade, save for the razor of Sweeny Todd!

Up next, elbow-ice-skating!
