Allegheny College

Anybody here know about this college? Been there? Know somebody who goes there? If so, what are your thoughts/comments?

Nope - Maryland. In Cumberland. But it's close to the Pa border.

The school used to be a two year community college. They had a cross country team that became so good, the school dropped the program. Their record over many years was 110 wins and 10 losses. TYhe program started out good and just kept getting better. They recruited internationally and their runners used the college start to get admitted to larger schools.

During their peak, they often split up the team and go to two different meets. They beat North Carolina in a close match, but it was close because two of North Carolina's runners were former Allegheny graduates. Finally they couldn't schedule opponents. No two year schools wanted to compete against them and the major schools didn't want embarrased. So the program was dropped.

First post here. I've lurked for a few days, and I couldn't help but post on this topic. I attend Allegheny College, which is located in Meadville, PA. I'm a Junior there. Yes, there are many colleges with "Allegheny" in the name, however, the one and only Allegheny College, I assure you, is not in Maryland. Our cross country team is fantastic, though. Really great school, excellent academics, and it's set in a nice town.

Thanks much. I'll be back in the fall, commuting a few miles to campus everyday on my new (to me!) 2005 Trek 7300.

Edit: Oh, and a quick google turned up an Allegany College in Maryland... I'm sure that's the one OP was referring to.

Note that I spelled it Allegheny, not Allegany. I'm talking about Meadville, PA. I went to visit and interview with them on Friday, which I believe went very well. I am pretty sure I'll be accepted, I just need to find out if I want to be there. I only want to transfer once as an undergrad, so I need to get this right!

Dude, if the questions you post on here are half a clue, they would be nuts not to accept you.

hahaha, well, in the past I did not demonstrate any self discipline when it came to things I did not want to do. Consequently, my high school grades were not enough to get me into the kind of place I want to be.

Now I ask the same questions but I have a 3.8GPA to back me up

With that GPA, you should be fine for most public and some private schools, especially if your SAT scores are also high.
