What's The Deal With Middle Children?

I'm a middle child of three and people take me for someone straddling between being eccentric/crazy. Sad life, I know. They tell me that I have "Middle Child Syndrome" but I refuse to accept the label. What's their deal anyway? Help press their case of my behavior.

Middle child *snort*
What you need is a twin to be compared to for your whole life.

"Which one are you again?"
"We're fraternal for God's sake. I'm the one with the good hair and shapely legs."

middle? twin? pfft, single child gets so boring sometimes, you'd wish you had some siblings.

Next time they say this to you, stalk them and hang the pelts of roadkill in their trees and shrubs. Write messages to them in ketchup on the windows of their car. Stuff like that usually makes them realize how wrong they were.

Yeah, that!! Not so much with the getting mixed up, since we're sister and brother, but...YEAH!
Bonus: I always had someone to play with, so I didn't bother learning social skills or anything.

Running will not help. The creepy twin mind power can find you and kill you dead even in the hills. Especially if it is the really creepy "middle child" twin who has older and younger brothers and/or sisters.

Nothing to be done about it. Middle kids are just nuts. My sister--wacked. My wife's sister--wacked. Youngest children are perfect in every way.

Big bonus. We still won't give the folks a straight answer about how Paul's eyebrows were burnt off.

Oldest are responsible.

Youngest are rebels.

Middle are AWESOME!

I'm the middle of three spaced about 20 months apart. I have a lot of the middle child traits and they're not all bad. Sure we can be a little nuts, but usually in a fun way.

Also, you can't be a middle child with an even number of kids in the family. Sharing the middle (say 2nd or 3rd of 4) is not nearly the same as being a true middle child.

**Note: Me declaring that you can't be a middle child with an even number of kids is a middle child trait. I want the middle all to myself. I'm sick of sharing.. oh and pay attention to me.**

This is fitting my data for non-first kids in general.

We have a pair of those across the street. One has curly hair though. Not sure if their grandma curls it every week (or straightens the other) or what if it's a single point mutation post-zygote-splitting.

My wife is a textbook middle child and it's GREAT.

She is the most eccentric but also has it together the most of her other siblings. The older sister at 32+ still needs direction from mommy and daddy and the younger brother redefines "rebel."

I was an only, people try to tell me I act like I am an only....then I tell they act like jackasses.

then I run away and play by myself with their toys in their sandbox while their mom dotes on me with presents

Well, I'm the oldest and was supposed to set the example - of which I was reminded of often when I got into trouble.

And my sneaky little brothers would be standing behind Mom snickering ...
