Thinking of moving to Canada .. what are the pros? cons?

Threatening to Move to Canada

Often times, white people get frustrated with the state of their country. They do not like the President, or Congress, or the health care system, or the illegal status of Marijuana. Whenever they are presented with a situation that seems unreasonable to them, their first instinct is to threaten to move to Canada.

For example, if you are watching TV with white people and there is a piece on the news about that they do not agree with, they are likely to declare “ok, that’s it, I’m moving to Canada.”

Though they will never actually move to Canada, the act of declaring that they are willing to undertake the journey is very symbolic in white culture. It shows that their dedication to their lifestyle and beliefs are so strong, that they would consider packing up their entire lives and moving to a country that is only slightly different to the one they live in now.

Within white culture, it is agreed upon that if Canada had better weather it would be a perfect place.

Being aware that this information can be used quite easily to gain the trust of white people. Whenever they say, “I’m moving to Canada,” you must immediately respond with “I have relatives in Canada.”

They will then expect you to tell them about how Canada has a perfect healthcare system, legalized everything, and no crime. Though not true, it will reassure them that they are making the right choice by saying they want to move there.

But be warned, they will reference you in future conversations and possibly call on you to settle disputes about Canadian tax rates. So use this advice only if you plan to do some basic research.

*Note: Canadian white people threaten to move to Europe.

**Note: Europeans are unable to threaten to move anywhere.

Contrary to popular belief, Canada is all but slammed the doors on people immigrating there from the US. They used to have a "points" system on what was needed before they would take someone, but I think that's gone, as they have more than enough people due to the US's collapsing economy and global hatred for Americans in general.

if you have raw skills, i.e. things you would normally learn in college, then you're more likely to get accepted in Canada. Something we're apparently short of.

If I felt sick of Toronto, Ontario, I'd go to BC. Better weather, cleaner air, easier to buy stuff, functional transit.

Good grief...so this is more widespread than I thought. I've met 2 americans here who claimed to be canadians when I first met them but I called them out pretty quickly. I raised this issue over a pint and 2 english people admitted to claiming to be Irish when abroad. I prefer to advertise my nationality by starting fights and falling drunk into the gutter.

I know friends of mine who always go through from Austin to a Canadian international airport before going overseas. There is so much hatred for Americans in most countries these days that any chance of playing off as a Canadian may end up prolonging people's life spans.

I once advised an American woman who was moving to London to pretend to be a Canadian if anyone asked. She was going to work in the US Embassy as well.

Not the US should be a pro.

Main drawback for me is the weather, but one of my colleagues who loves winter sports sees the weather as a pro.

This is entirely an opinion, so I state mine that it is a con. I've been to many different countries and I have yet to visit one that functioned better than the US on even its worst days. If you want the US to be like Europe or Canada, then you are missing the point of what the US is supposed to be.

I like Canada just fine, but I wouldn't want to live there. In fact my cousin pointed out that a member of our family would not be able to live there because of gun control.

Would not or would choose not to?

I wouldn't live in Canada either but only because it's too cold. I find Europe bad enough but the weather here isn't anywhere as cold as in Canada (or the northern states of the USA).

I think I'll probably end up in Australia eventually, but France is probably my preferred place to live overall.

I've read that guys website before. Most of what he spouts only applies to white liberal elite. I will not move to Canada if Obama becomes president, not that he has a chance.

When you say 'elite' you mean people like the Bushes and the Kennedys and other patrician types?

Huh?? That ol' boy can't sing a lick. When it comes to Canadian singers I'll take the late Stan Rogers any day.

You can write great, meaningful music without having a classic singing voice.
