Bored = Fun with Legos

A full-suspension (real working rear, fake front), fixed gear (but double cog/pulley), mountain bike, with a kickstand. Don't ask. When I get bored, strange things happen.

"chainring"

"cogs"

Functional rear suspension

Fake front suspension and crown/steerer

Kickstand. Hey, this baby won't stand up in my cubicle on its own!

Flip the stem. Kidding...pretty awesome!

I have a coworker at work that is totally into the Macros saga...he has a lego kit that will make one of the Valkarie fighter/robots.

Legos = fun.

Well, the rear stays and most of the front fork are all parts out of the Mindstorms 1.5 kit, but the "core" of the bike (tan saddle, rear suspension and front frame are all pieces from a short-lived kit series called "Roboriders" - which came out right before lego went nuts with Bionicle. I wish I could claim I designed the rear suspension setup I used, but a very similar suspension was used on some of the Roboriders if you followed the kit instructions.

A coworker's eyes about popped out when he saw me biking back from lunch w/ a big Indiana Jones lego set strapped across the tops of my panniers. My 6 yr old has already fabricated a complete replica of this set from random other kits, but he so wants the 'real' one to set up next to his. I hope this isn't a bad idea... but anyway biking w/ legos is always good.

Anyway, he clued me in to this place just up the road a bit:

http://www.freighthousesquare.com/ME...ickdesign.html

which definitely looks like it bears visiting.

One of the reasons why I'm such a mechanical genious today is because of all the time I spent as a child playing with Legos, rector sets, and Lincoln Logs. Remember, Legos used to only come in brick and half brick sizes.....none of today's no-brainer lego sets.

I wasn't into reading at all. I had a reading problem when growing up.
