How deep are your pockets, from memory an E49 sold for $2600 now a restored one's around the 250,000 mark. Even a wreck could be 20,000.

I saw a convertible spitfire by the side of the road yesterday, just like in the '70's.

The one I saw was actually on the road, and being driven.
I'm betting the engine, transmission, and electrical were all replaced.

Probably only the electrics. The six cylinder motor in a GT6 is a reliable old lump, especially if you replace the "Prince of Darkness" electrics.

The parking lot at work was busy this weekend.

Calling Siu...

They look really hot in the flesh. The proportions are mean and purposeful like the Nissan GTR (which I also like).

This 1983 Mercedes 500SEC, which belonged to His Serene Highness The Prince of Monaco, was auctioned off last week. 28 years old and only 8,000Km. Still waiting for the price to be released, but it was estimated to go for a bargain 15-25 thousand euros. Edit: Sold a bit over the auction estimate, 117,000 euros!

Oh yea, just remembered...This is, or was, "Spindle," in my home town of Berwyn, Illinois, as seen in Wayne's World. The cars individually aren't beautiful but they make a pretty neat package. It was taken away so a Walgreens could be put in and so the mall owner didn't have to pay for its refurbishment, among other reasons. There was already a Walgreens there, but it didn't have a drive-thru, so obviously the logical course of action would be to tear down a landmark and build a second store. Last I heard it was dismantled in 2008 after a failed attempt at an ebay auction and only the top two cars were saved.
