I'll see your Unimog and raise you a Pinzgauer:

It's a step. You have to be a bit of an acrobat to get in and out of those things.

These pictures were sent to me in a email. The new Merc built just for the new gaming generation, note there's no steering wheel or pedals, just a joystick. So now our cars can be stolen by 5 year old's!

I seem to recall that Pontiac had at least one prototype with a similar control arrangement, back in the 50s or 60s; the old Firebird concept cars, back before the name was used on a production car.

They just don't make 'em like this any more...

^^ Didn't Hitler have one off those?

Here's a 1971 Honda 1300 Coupe 9, I've had one sitting on our property since 72" I remember my dad taking me for joy rides as a kid. If the web is correct there's only 3 in North America.
It has a air cooled motorcycle style engine with quad carb's and revs to 9000rpm!

Plenty of power, poor suspension, and marginal interior? Did they ever stop?

All jokes aside, American manufactures really have made some pretty cars. Unfortunately, most of them were long before my time. I also can't argue with traditional v8 power plants. They are simple, cheap and easy to work on.

That last merc and Honda look great.

1963 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale I believe. Old college buddy just added this to his stable. Going to get a rotissiere rebuild and will sit next to his 1937 Lincoln Zephyr or his 50 Ford ragtop or his 57 Ford Skyliner. Nice to be dual income and no kids...

Nah. That one was made in the 50's. As far as I know these are the two benz's Hitler had. Both in black, of course.

That Honda 1300 looks like the kind of car you could just throw around... joy rides indeed.

Dang, that's going to be one hell of an insurance claim. At least there's a G-Wagen off to the right to get out of the garage.

Prior to this thread the only Holden I'd ever even heard of was the Dickhurtsfrom.

Actually Holden did make it to t he states. The last Pontiac GTO is a Holden Monero and the Pontiac G8 is also a Holden

Ohhh man there is SO much available now to make those old cars handle now. Search "Pro-Touring". Whole movement of modernizing old muscle cars and putting modern engines in them. Thats the route I'm taking with my LeMans. Keeping the motor till I kill it but its so easy to make big numbers on the power now with the new motors.

This 70 GTO as an example : http://v8tvshow.com/content/view/724/98/ L92 6.2 liter motor that comes in several GM's now, does 12's in the 1/4, 418hp at the the wheels, Does well in Auto Cross and gets 23mpg at 80mph with the 6speed OD transmission. Whats not to love about that?

Haha, I am aware of what is possible, I was more or less poking fun. If money weren't an option, I would daily drive an f100 with the drivetrain from an 03-04 cobra.

With my budget, I would rather buy a proper chassis to tune without fabrication.

thirdgenbird 11-05-12 09:28 PM

Oh, and your Pontiac looks hot. I dig the color.
