There's a reason why they're Jay Leno's favorite, iirc. Rare, beautiful, and overall awesome.

^ You almost fooled me there. I thought it was the same car I posted a few pages back till I noticed the different licence plate and exhaust! Are these body kits factory fitted or do people buy them aftermarket or both, how much wider rim can be fitted after the kit goes on? I think it's meaner and more race car looking bolted on!

I love these 550's they have the works factory light weight look to them "coz they are race cars" In particular the nearest one with the fin tailed guards.

My uncle once took me with to a Porsche dealership to look at a lesser spec'd 911 and the salesman convinced him to take a ride in one almost identical to to that except in the stereotypical yellow... That thing is a legitimate race car; with AC and a radio.

I drove a 550 replica that looked just like the middle car. Fun ride
I used to hate 911s because of the image but one day I would like to get a air-cooled 911. The more I see, the more I appreciate a small, true sportscar.
It's limiting because of the ******** engine placement, but they are nice simple sportscars.

The main fault of the rear engine placement behind the axle is when there driven at there limit on race tracks, they are known for suddenly spearing off the track. If they spun the engine around so the cylinders were behind the driver and had the trans axle faced the rear the earlier cars would have been better but generally there all good sports cars. In there current cars they have mostly solved this handling trait.

I had the opportunity to drive a 356 replica on a modified VW pan. It was actually a real hoot to drive.

The 550 series cars are another favorite of mine.
The mid-engine layout is setup perfectly for neutral handling with none of the wicked over-steer found in the later 911's.
Regarding the 1998 Black 911 GT, it was the last of the air-cooled rear engined cars and was available from the factory with OEM fender flares for wide 10' and 12' rubber.

With those beautiful passengers, makes you wonder why he had an ejection seat. Or was ejection a typo?

Taken from alfa forums, hope the owner doesn't mind. Over steer one of these you just accelerate harder to correct it.
