Which Motherboard?

So I got my hands on Intel® Core™2 Extreme Processor QX9650. My current motherboard does not support it, EVGA 680i. So I am looking for a new one. I have 8800 GTX graphic card so something that will support SLI (might go that route in the future). Any suggestions? I was thinking EVGA 780i since I already have 2 gig of pretty fast DDR2 RAM.

why would you want SLI unless you can do triple and DDR3?
Just kick it up to a DDR3 board with triple SLI, by the time you even have money for a SLI setup you'd want it doing 2x2GB DDR3 anyways with a 3rd card for physics calculation.

I'd check out what the extremesys guys are doing, first place I ever go if I want to know what's the best.

I have money now, just no real need. Anyway any recommendations on the board?

Nice thing about the QX9650 is that it's compatible with a wider range of motherboards due to its 1333mhz bus. So anything with P35 or X38 chipset will work. I like Gigabyte or Asus motherboards best; have had the least amount of trouble with them in terms of durability, ease of install, drivers, etc. Gigabyte also has a MB that can use either DDR2 or DDR3.

Here's a list of Gigabyte boards that'll work: NewEgg - quad-core motherboards

+1 for Gigabyte. EVGA is also great.

I'm pretty sure most motherboards come with PCI Express 2.0 slots these days too. It's not necessary for your current video card but it's something to consider for the future.

SLI = good stuff My 8800GT SLI setup is still kicking @$$ and with the recent videocard war between NVidia and AMD/ATI, you can probably pick up a second GTX for cheap if you find one. Heck, i'd even say start looking now unless you plan on going SLI with a set of 9x00 cards in the future because the 8x00 series is starting to get phased out.

+1 On the Asus Boards.

Everything I've built for myself has been based on an ASUS motherboard. Gigabyte boards are also topnotch. Go DDR3.

He can use the 8x00 card for the 3rd slot (nvidia physics) and go dual 9x00...

I bought an ASUS board last month for a machine that was supposed to run some virtualization stuff. The board and chip said it would run it, but when I installed Hyper-V, it blue-screened until I removed that role, even with latest BIOS updates.

Next boards I'm using likely will be Intel, but I don't overclock, so take that for what its worth.

I was hoping for a more specific recommendations. I used all major brands, and all of them have their lemons.
