Did my first 5K today....

Set a blazing PR of 28:42, but had a blast. Next month is a 10K, and by the fall I'm shooting for a half-marathon...

It pains me to say it, but running is just so much easier to fit into a busy schedule than cycling. Regardless, I'm having fun, losing weight, getting healthy again, yada yada...

Gotta get the stamina up for when the baby's here.

Well done! How'd the shins handle the running at first? I started running last year again after a 10 year hiatis. It was painful for the first couple of weeks.

Congrads! I think I could jog a mile in that time--maybe...

I just did my first metric century yesterday. [Well, I cheated and did it on the flat land of Cape Cod. But it still counts!] Mother-in-law likes to rent a place each summer for vacation, and us having the first grandchildren, we get invited along. Which means wife and I get a good amount of babysitting--for free. You might consider the possibilities of staying cozy with the grandparents for similar reasons...

I actually did it smart this time and started slow, with short distances. Did a couple weeks of 2-3 mile runs at a very slow jog, then added a little speed work here and there.

Starting slow and getting the right shoes have made a huge difference for me--hell, I'm actually enjoying running for the first time!

Congrats! It is addicting, no? I intended this to be the year I'd do a half marathon, until I purchased my bike this spring... I have fond running has gotten easier with cycling, bt I'm certainly not getting enough running in now to consider a half-mar.

Keep us posted on the races!

Congrats! Keep up the good work! I'm jealous. I was planning on a half marathon in the middle of June, but since Feb, I haven't been able to run. I'm excited to start again.
