I really hate this rain! (Rant)

It comes everyday, every single day! I wake up around 2pm go outside, looks like a beautiful day, take bath, gear up, check bike, open garage door and it's pouring! I really hate this. What's the advantage of having a great summer if it's gonna be wet all the time? And no only that, freaking dark too. Like a vision from the apocalypse.

Who said you need sunglasses to ride in Florida? Goggles is what you'll need! Get Goggles! And get a tri-athlete skinsuit while you're at it.

Hehe, sounds pretty nice to me! Riding in the rain can be kind of fun, especially when its hot outside.

Nothing wrong with getting wet. I prefer it. It's not like you have to go through 35F windy rain in January.

I LOVE walking in the rain! Especially if Im with that special someone! Nothing like two people in love kissing slowly and passionately in the pouring rain!

OK ok, I'm giving in. I took off the speedplays (don't wanna get the new shoes wet), reattached the toe-strips and put a new battery on the flashing taillight thingy. I'm contemplating the possibility of riding in the rain today.

Yeah, if you wake up in the AM (like a normal person) you'd avoid the rain. You should know it ALWAYS rains in the afternoon down here. Mornings are best, cooler but still humid. Cooler as in mid-to-high-70's. And it is the rainy season so...

Yes, but if you get struck by lightning you wont need a battery for your light!

Ohh, I forgot... day shift guys. My standard life schedule explanation follows:

If you are badly hurt at 3am, you want a nurse at the hospital emergency room ready to help you?
You want a policeman working at midnight in your area in case somebody tries to break in?
Do you like it when some trucker is hauling coffee at 3am so you could have your latte in the morning?
Do you like that FeDex warehouse employee taking care of the rush delivery gift sent to your mama?

Well I'm one of does guys that make it happen. The night shifters. Saving the world from chaos every night while the rest of the world sleep or make babies.

Ah, night shift; BT&DT for 24+ years, and still counting. Thank you for what you do! I know what you mean about afternoon rain. Maybe it's the seabreeze thunderstorm effect we get for months at a time here on the upper Texas coast. Onshore flow plus rising daytime temp equals almost daily afternoon rain.

    More preparations...

I'm now wearing double socks, with plastic grocery bags in between the socks to keep my feet dry (tip taken from an old BF thread). I'm still measuring which one of my 2 options would suck the least...

Option A: Torture myself on the trainer for 2 hours (Dry, but boring).
Option B: HTFU and go out in the rain (not boring, but wet)

Serious suggestion: Ride right after work, before crashing out?

I did the 3rd shift thing for a while. It sucked, but it was necessary at the time.

it is good practice to ride in the rain. If you race you really should do it whenever you can. Rain is good

I love a good summer rain ride. Just don't stop. It's hard to get the body heat up again.

Done. 20.5Mi in about 1:40ish (I suck, I know). There was only 2 other riders out there, a commuter (he didn't had much choice) and one of the usual head to toe discovery suit guy... at least he was riding. I'm dripping wet, cold and hungry. The plastic bag wrapped feet trick doesn't work crap.

I really want to eat outside today. There are plenty of good restaurants in a 5Mi radius. But I would have to drive in this rain to get there... Oh the irony...

It is summer in FL, did you expect something different? It is either going to rain in the morning or it will rain in the afternoon generally not both. If you are on the right coast like me assume it will rain between 2:00p and 6:00p every day. So you either have to ride in the morning, after 6:00p or in the rain. Nothing new here, it has been that way the whole 4 years I have lived in S. Fl

I dont know about where you are, but when it rains here (Orlando) its usually a T-Storm of some sort. I seriously think The Man Upstairs has something against Disney, cus thats where the big mother of all rain clouds is. My commute takes me by Disney. Its slightly overcast etc as i walk South into the parking lot where I work. Get in my car, turn West onto 192 and OMFG A BLACK PIT has opened up above Disney area. And I have to drive towards it. Everyday, no joke, its dark as night above Disney. Then the rains come, the roads turn to rivers, and the idiot drivers crash into each other. Window wipers on full. Once i get by the rear entrance of Disney on 535, back to overcast/lighter colored sky, rain tapers off. Slightly.

Same thing with the rain for me. I live in Fort Myers and it seems to be raining non-stop lately.

TitaniuMerlin, Just a few miles north from you... Longwood. My loops cross Alatamonte Springs, Longwood, Lake Mary, Heathrow and Sanford. Today is the same thing as yesterday. I'm taking today off (from the bike I mean, I do have to go to work). I'll try tomorrow morning when I come back from the office.

It either doesn't rain (morning usually) and it's sunny, or you have a freaking T-storm with heavy winds and lotsa lightning. Riding on this thing every now in a while is ok, but every day is gonna get me sick.
