I should have posted pics of what I listed but I'm lazy.

This stock image of the Fortis I have. Love this watch but I'm interested in selling/trading it for something different. I might regret it, who knows.

My Bell & Ross is hard to wear now that I've lost a ton of weight. The Nixon takes the daily abuse.

I currently got my eyes open for another thin, non digital watch, that has an alarm. the requirement of an alarm appears to drastically narrow the choices. any ideas?

here's my current watch, and I sweared to myself that after I went through my 10 Livestrong wristband I'm getting a watch to replace them.

I don't get why so few have pics of their actual watch(es)? Weird.

Anyway, inspired by those who do--I like the Kobold Arctic on the kicks, Kandyredcoi!--I'll jump into this with a pic of my redoubtable '65 Accutron Spaceview:

You might want to check out the Casio Oceanus line. They are nice looking (IMO), solar powered, use wave reception for accurate time-keeping, and I believe most are titanium. I know as of a couple of years ago, they were being sold in the US and had to be bought through importers. I have a Manta and have gotten a ton of compliments on it. Not as many as some of my nicer pieces, but still. Not bad for a $800 - $1300 (approx.) timepiece.

Charles

Edit:

Here's the link: http://www.oceanus-us.com/

And some of them DO NOT have alarms...

You may also want to check out the Krieger Marine Chrono. It uses a analog-digital display like the Breitling Aerospace pictured earlier in the thread. Also to consider in the same vein, the Bell & Ross Function watches. They're more clever than the Breitling or Krieger in that the analog display is seamlessly integrated into the dial, and is invisible until you activate it:

While I'm at it, I might as well post a pic of my Krieger, their original Marine Chronometer, circa '94. As a Besançon certified Marine Chronometer, it is the most accurate wristwatch in the world, and one of the rarest. It uses a thermocompensated, dual crystal (i.e. with two separate oscillators) movement, with a 32.768KHz one and a 2MHz one, arranged in a sampled digital phase locked loop. The stability of the 32.768KHz oscillator is checked every 8 minutes and adjustment is made digitally via the higher frequency crystal. The rate can be tweaked up and down DIGITALLY in increments of 1/3 second/month, just sick-to-death accuracy, accuracy enough to be a portable, navigational time standard. Geeky, but cool, IMO.

The original Kriëgers are great watches. I remember visiting their HQ in Miami when my dad needed warranty service on his. They were a true fisherman's watch.

Right?! How you gonna post a file pic from a shady, online retailer like, "Looky I got!"???

On the issue of other habits, you must remember DJ Bobbito's show "It's the Shoes," no? I used to love watching that! Here's one where he visits the Biz! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70xUmwFG8CE

Staying on topic, a '60s vintage Borel Cocktail. Gotta love the "mystery dial" motion!:

We can relax that a bit here. I'm not breaking out my Canon 1Ds Mk.II and all my lighting and macro tubes to post some pics of MY watch to prove anything.

I look forward to the day that my life has grown so comfortable and boring that I can become enthusiastic about expensive wrist watches.

My friend a watch need not be expensive. quality and price usually go hand in hand but vintage watches, familt heirlooms and mid range priced timepieces are perfectly respectable items as well. No need to drop $5000 on a watch to get into them.

A $40 ironman isn't anything special but you can get into a used Fortis or a nice Casio chronograph for a decent price. Nice thing it there is very little depreciation on a used quality watch. Need the money out of your investment later? Sell it. Move up or down with your collection.

If you think wearing an ironman with your nice suit is acceptable you need to leave this thread. Style points will be taken off as you exit.
