Semicircle

A rectangle is inscribed in a semicircle of radius r, as shown in the figure, where r = {6**.
Express the area A as a function of the height h of the rectangle using the given radius r of the circle.

But I could be wrong. Geometry was a long time ago....

Draw some relevant line segments. That might help. Show what you've tried or thought about so far... it might help us help you.

The area of the rectangle is 2*h*b

Can you figure out what b is, in terms of h and r?

Pythagorean Theorem: b^2 + h^2 = r^2

Find the area of the full circle, cut it in half, then figure that the rectangle is somewhat smaller in area than the semicircle, and make a semi-educated guess. Life is too short to worry too much about such things.
