It's a thin liiiiiiiiiiiiine....between loveandhate.

Driving your muscle car at 5 bucks per gallon.

Eating Pistachio ice cream while trying to lose poundage.

Posting on BF when you know you need to get to sleep.

I want cheap petrol. Just to wait to it is over $8 a US gallon, like it is here.

Officially Pistachio ice cream doesn't count for weight gain or loss.

You pay NZ$2.75 per litre?

I thought it was around NZ$2.20.

We pay (not me because I don't own a car) 1.55 per litre at the moment (over $9 per US gallon).

I always thought NZ and Australia had some of the cheapest petrol in the developed world as the tax on it was quite low.

Gas here is pretty cheap, despite being hiked 17-18% in one day on June 19/20 -- about $3 a gallon now.

I could say some other things about China in this thread, but am trying to keep a positive attitude . It's all part of the natural ebb and flow...

Almost. (forgot to do the currency conversion as well) it's about NZ$2.20 per litre for the basic 91. If you need to run premium then it's dearer still. It hurts when I have to fill up, and I have an economical four cylinder car not a big six or eight.

It's one of the reasons I bike commute, and do most of my shopping by bike. I tend to only use my car to cart heavy or very bulky loads or go away on long weekend trips.

I forgot to do the currency conversion as well as the volume conversion. It is about $2.20 per litre for basic 91 and dearer for premium.

The petrol in Aussie is cheaper than here and our taxes are reasonably high, just not as high as Europe.

I hope Americans get punished in the same way. It's the only thing that will drive us to sanity.

IINM, we yanks have one of the highest unit costs for just the fuel. You furiners have a higher pump price because of all the taxes added on to support your health care programs etc.

True, but the taxes are used for other things as well such as subsidising mass transit and maintaining infrastructure (the bridges here don't usually collapse for lack of maintenance).
