Do real-time satellite views of traffic exist?

You know, like Google Earth, but in real time?

I missed a PT appointment yesterday because I got to the on-ramp for the highway and saw traffic backed up to the horizon. I found myself wishing I could just log on to the computer before I left to take a look.

I know there are traffic websites out there, but from what I understand they are more "representations" of traffic conditions and not actual live-action video feeds.

I also know that some cities do have live-action video feeds for there own traffic centers, but I'm not sure whether they are accessible by the average citizen.

Any ideas?

I found this on a 'chicago traffic video feeds' search on google. Is Napiervill in that area?

Install Lojack in every car in the city and then track them before you go anywhere.

Lojack uses a beacon + triangulation from police car mounted receivers. There need to be at least 3 such equipped squad cars actively on the road to locate (you'd be shocked at how infrequent this can be in some cities).

Wouldn't work well for what you describe. GSM pinging of cell phones or toll-tag tracking would be better.

Not completely real time but...

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...raffic+cameras

edit: obviously helpful because it's virtually the same as Naperville
