Is it Rude?

Just wondered if it was rude on my part or not:

I pm'ed a fellow member who had/has a couple items in the "For Trade" thread in Road Cycling. Being fairly new to the road with a vintage ride currently, I don't have anything of value partswise to trade. I politely stated that I didn't have any parts since I am new to the road side, but if he/she couldn't find the parts they desired, would he/she be interested in selling the items, and if so, how much? I didn't get a reply at all, so I pm'ed again just over 2 weeks later. Still no reply, and the said items haven't been edited that they are no longer available.

So, was it rude of me what I did, or was it ok? I am still interested in the items to upgrade my wife's ride.

Thank you,
Chris

I wouldn't consider it rude. Actually, I'd lean towards thinking that it was rude that you received no response.

That said, their computer might have crashed, or they might have gone on vacation or something.

I actually took the vacation thing into consideration. After I had seen he had logged in again acording to his profile since the first pm, that is when I sent the 2nd. I then noticed he had logged in again after the 2nd pm, I began wondering if what I did was rude, or it was he/she being rude by not replying in anyway. If the items are gone, that is fine, or if he/she wants to trade only, that is ok also, but how do I know with no reply!

You don't. You won't always get a reply. You weren't rude to PM. Posting about it here, where we are all now somewhat obliged to read thru this while you wait and hope that one of us is the member you are trying to contact, is kinda rude.

In other words: we know you don't care if it was rude to PM, and we know that your motivation for this post was to catch that person's attention, not to have a moral discussion. You own every viewer 5 minutes.

Fo one, you have NO IDEA WHAT my intentions were or are! I truly don't believe the member surfs Foo, so I did not expect him/ her to see this! Contrary to what you THINK you know, I DID NOT have an ulterior motive for starting this thread. I wanted to see if others would have thought it was rude by pm'ing when I did not have the said "wanted items".

If this thread irritated you that much, you shouldn't have taken the precious 5 minutes and replied. I don't recall agreeing to anything that stated one must read every thread on BF when signing up. But maybe I missed that part.

Now, if I took your reply wrong, I am sorry, but to me I found it to be offensive, telling me I don't care. I realize you don't know me, probably never will, but before you react maybe it is better think not every person in the world, or on BF anyway, has an ulterior motive. Remember, I could easily mention who the member is, but have enough respect NOT to do that, or the said item(s).

To any other members who thought this was rude of me posting this thread, I am truly sorry!

I only replied to USAZorro to state I had taken into consideration vacation, computer trauma, etc....
