I'm feeling blue and homesick

I miss my family and my old friends. I would like to take a few days and go visit my hometown, see my parents, my sisters, my brother and visit my old friends. I want to walk trough my old neighborhood, talk to the people. I'm 2,000+ miles away from home, I'm homesick.

Sadly, I don't have the time or the money.

I wonder is the whole relocation thing was really worth it. I am making around 10k more a year, but I'm also having a lot more expenses.... Plus I get homesick every 3 or 4 months.

Being homesick sucks. Pop in some home videos. Go home, see your family, they probably miss you.

The key is to move around so much that you forget where your home is. That seems to have worked for me.

Edit: Don't mean to sound like a jerk ... being homesick does suck. I notice that I've been less prone to homesickness or pining for other places when I'm out and about doing stuff... spend some time on your bike and with friends. It helps.

I haven't lived in my old hometown in 10 years but I still miss it sometimes, even though no one I know even lives there anymore! How crazy is that? Anyway, I think being miserable isn't worth the extra 10K. JMHO. You can always go home again.

I myself am homesick too, having been raised in SE Michigan. I am so sick of that place that I have no desire to ever go back. All I really miss is northern Michigan, which I consider the nicest possible place without mountains.

I can only wish I grew up somewhere worth missing.
