    Food Cravings

    Do you ever get food cravings, not based on what the food tastes like, but what the main component ( protein, carbs, fat) is?

    I had this massive craving for eggs or meat this morning - guess my body was telling me I needed more protein.

    Usually after bike rides I crave pasta - body needs the carbs?

    Yeah my body craves things based on component! I thought I was the only one!

    I get more protein cravings than anything else, carbs usually after a long ride or climbing. Fat - not so often!

    My wife had some strange ones every time we conceived, the first time, she ate a whole pound of American deli cheese in ONE DAY! I went to make a sandwich and asked her where the cheese was - "I ate it all..." - "WTF - I just bought that stuff yesterday!!"

    Her latest one was carrot cake, pickles, and American cheese...

    For me, lately I'd have to say watermelon.

    I have carb cravings a lot. I've eaten raw pasta because I couldn't wait the 10 minutes it takes to boil the stuff.

    I've been craving rocky road ice cream lately. It has stuff from all four food groups. Dairy, chocolate...almonds and and marshmellows.

    I think I crave protein a lot more when I'm in training than when I'm not. That should be a "duh" thing, but not for me. I usually don't crave protein. It seems lately I can't get enough of it.
