Which do you prefer?

I was a model the other day for some artsy shoot... The photographer didn't quite know how to get the effect she wanted, so there was a lot of time wasted with setup.

This is the final result:

And here's what I did to it:

So which do you prefer? Why?

Thanks!

I like that your eyes and that your face is more lit up in the second one, but the flare is kinda weird.

Thanks.

I tried it with and without the flare...in the end, it felt really empty without it... Heh.

Great shots, as always, Eddie. I actually find the flare in the second image very distracting, especially around the chin. Try taking the first one, increase the contrast to get a bit more impact.

Keep in mind you increased the contrast and/or saturation on the second shot, so it's not a real fair comparison to figure out if the increased light intensity is having the desired impact.

I like the 1st shot better. The light in the second shot is too prominent.

The rendering in the second bugs me.
I don't like the halo around the fingers, and the lighting spilling from the mouth does not fit the fact that the face is not front lit.
I don't mind the added lens flair.

The first one looks cleaner. If you can somehow do the light effects in the eyes of the second one to the first one, then I think it would be strong.

I never thought I'd say this about anything, but the second pic has too much effects. I like the first one.

Looks like it was inspired by Michaelangelo.

Only in your case, the hand of God is tainted, and Adam isn't accepting the breath of life, he's giving it back.

Just sayin'....

Cooker, I think your interpretation has been the closest to what the artist wanted!

The artists idea was to have the hand reaching for me, to take whatever energy I had, but I had nothing more, so I'm screaming and only black energy is coming out. Whatever.

My thought was that if there was light/energy coming out of my mouth in that intensity (and had I been the photographer, the execution of that would have been different), there'd be lens flare. I really like the effects on the hand in the second, though, halo included. I like it because of the idea it's all about energy, rather than just some high contrast image.

Thanks for the input, guys!

I like the first one. It's semi-believable and looks more natural than the first one. The second one has too harsh of contrast.
