the job hunt may be over. ching.

So, posted a few threads recently about my resume, a job i was interviewing for (hired an internal applicant, btw)....

Today I went into a raise to discuss our incentive plan and a few other things with the head cheeses. Frankly, I didn't complete part of an objective incentive program, and expected to hear about it. Instead, I came out with a bonus, title promotion, fatty raise, and a neat profit-sharing program. So, I guess I can be bought... for now.

Just shot me into a high enough income bracket... I think I'll get back to condo-shopping.

beers all around.

ha. oooh siu. it sounds much funnier in my head than it came out in type. perhaps you should edit my title to something you deem more phoenetically appropriate?

Not to be the t()rd in the punchbowl, but if you were expecting to hear bad news (and, perhaps deservedly so, based on your comments), and instead were completely knocked sideways with great news, someone probably knew you were looking elsewhere. I would expect it to be a one-time deal they made because they couldn't afford to lose you just now. I wouldn't expect the generosity to last, so beware of much more BS to come as they try to get their money's worth out of you.

amazing. this just screams to me of that scene in Office Space where he gets the promotion after missing some work ("I wouldn't say I've been missing it, Bob"). They must be grooming you for Upper Management!! congratz on your metamorphasis into Bill Lumberg

you just have to match the right wine up to the smokey salty goodness that is bacon....that or drink enough that you don't care anymore, which is the option I'm going with.

Arti, repeat after me:

"Milton, I'm going to have to ask you to move your desk, mmmmmmmmmmkay?"

Practice several times a day until it sounds natural. Mmmmmmmmkay?

no worries, turd it up
The "bad news" I was expecting was in regards to an Objective incentive- as in, if i completed the objective, I got the incentive. The objectives were revenue-builders for the company. As it happened, I have been swamped with high-profile projects and didn't have time. The gave me that bonus anyway, cuz I've rocked at the projects at-hand.

Essentially, the promotion is bumping me up to managing contractors (who will be doing most of the grunting I've been doing now) since the workload has outgrown my position.

you know what? I did have one. It was maroon. I traded it for a black one because mine worked better (and I like paper clips) so I didn't need it.
