The Foo Center for Art and Culture

Ever feel you need a little more culture in your life? To broaden your horizons beyond American Idol? Ever thought that maybe, just maybe some of your fellow foosters could use a little more culture? Well, The Foo Center for Arts and Culture is here.

Share what ever you think is artistic, cultured and enlightening here.

It could be something like this:
Shakespear's Taming of the Shrew (John Cleese)

Or this:
Diana Damrau - Der Hölle Rache - Mozart - Die Zauberflöte

Or this:
The Doors - The End

Or:
If you're from the South

Cool, One of my co-workers is Nigerian and he told me about juju music but didn't have any examples. That vieo should have been a pretty good example. They even did the "spraying with money".

I saw him around 28 years ago, at the old Chicagofest (no longer held). It was amazing. He had around 25 members in the band: singers, drummers (traditional and modern), guitarists, bass, etc....

Each member came out, one by one, every minute or so, and started to play their instrument, until the entire band was onstage, then the King walked on. I can still remember the melody of that opening tune, that's how much of an impact the experience had on me. Very cool.

Ever notice how similar Celtic music is to Bluegrass?

Ricky Scaggs and The Chieftains, Grand Ole Opry

Earl Scruggs and The Chieftains, Grand Ole Opry

The Corrs and The Chieftains

Just to throw something a little different in the mix.
Music Only no vid
And because they are really good

If I want culture, I go get some yogurt, preferably the frozen kind, vanilla, in a waffle cone with Heath Bar mixed in, all served in a waffle cone.

Which reminds me of a joke - What's the difference between Los Angeles and yogurt? Yogurt is an active culture.

Ba Da Boom.

I'm here all week - try the veal.

Is that you, Micheal Savage?

Might as well throw out some literature too.
Go Rin No Sho/Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi in .pdf form

Blue grass sounds like celtic because It decended from celtic music most of the hillfolks where blue grass orininated are decendents of Scottich and Irish immgrants. My Dads family originated from scotland my Mothers from the south cliffs of England( translation : english hillbillies) I have family that have traced both Mom and Dads linage back to around 1400 in europe they got to America around 1700 and settled in Virginia/West Virginia so with 600 years of Hillbilly/Highlander blood it is hard not to like blue grass and celtic music

Not sure how a shot at L.A. came 'round to Savage, but maybe you're thinking to hard about a simple, possibly silly joke?

Maybe so. The Northern Cal tag, Savage rides a bike, always talks about food ("Try the Veal"). Just struck me as er..Savage-like.

Yeah, I listen to Savage. I listen to local Pacifica station and NPR too. It keeps me from going nuts. I figure the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

Roy, I've found that a good pair of headphones helps preserve marital bliss (and it seems not my life).
