I feel so young!

Since everyone else on FOO is feeling old today, I just thought I would share...
Last friday evening I went to the Mall of America. On prime evenings (thurs-sat, I believe) you need to be 16 or accompanied by an adult to be in the mall after 8pm or so. They have fearless rent-a-cops guarding the doors checking ID's.

I actually got carded coming into the mall.

I'm wondering if I should be flattered or offended?
(I'm also pretty sure the mall cop was younger than me)

The more trivial somebodys power is, the greater extent they go wielding it.

But I am 27 and I get carded at bars all the time. At least my date got carded first last time .

I'm 30, most of my friends are over 30, and we get carded at liquor stores and bars.

I'm in my 40's and used to bartend. I get carded at bars still, sometimes.

The first time I have ever heard of this. Teeny boppers hang out at malls all the time here, they don't have anything better to do.

I'm in my forties, and I rarely buy alcohol, yet I have maintained a beer gut.

In my late 20's and still get carded. Makes me feel good. My wife is my age but looks like she's about 16 so I get odd stares from people sometimes. She ALWAYS gets carded and doesn't even drink.

I worked at a liquor store for a year (May 07-May 08) and carded a couple of people who were born around 70... Better safe than sorry, although one guy who I worked with asked me if I wanted to play 'Rebel without a cause,' refusing to ID anybody...

A funny story, I carded a kid one night and when he handed me his ID, I said, 'Hey, we went to high school together!' When I looked at him I knew it was someone else. I told him I knew who owned the ID and he said, 'No, that's me...' as he quickly walked out.

In the Atlanta airport I watched an 80+ year old man get carded. He got quite irritated and bartender would NOT give him a beer otherwise. The bartenders response is that they card everyone. Apparently so.

Sometimes I would eject a whippersnapper from the bar just to make myself feel good too.

This is the policy at Wal Mart. Pisses the older dudes off something awful...

We had a bar manager who wanted us to do that. As a group (all the bartenders) we refused. She went complaining to the bar owner, he sided with us and she quit within about two weeks.

Well, I pretty much goto the same 3 bars all the time here in town so I dont get carded much anymore simply because I know the staff working there.

If I go somewhere else I get carded, of course I am 24.

A couple of years ago, I got carded in Disney World. As I was fishing my ID, I told the girl that I was older than the resort. She looked at my birthday and said "just barely!" with a hint of attitude.

As if "just barely" doesn't count.

It does count!

Wait...what?

I don't get carded, even though I'm 19.

Not that I'm doing things to get me carded, but it's a good thing to have in mind if someone I know is ever kidnapped and held hostage and the demand happens to be beer, wine or spirits.

Rapidly approaching 39 and was carded today -- schwing*.

"It's better to look good than feel good."

* = I trick myself into thinking that I actually look young and willfully neglect the fact that presenting ID when buying alcohol is required.

I don't know why you're so surprised. From your picture, you look like you're 15 anyway. That or the guards might just randomly card anyone.

We'll vouch for you......That you are a rebel
He was probably just hitting on you. He show up at your doorstep yet? Watching you through night vision glasses? Posting random grainy pictures of you on the internet?

I don't think they have a legal drinking age here and I've never seen anyone asked for proof of age.
