Anybody Paintball?

I'm going to Denver next week. About a dozen guys that I work with and I will be doing a paintball excursion one of the days. I'm trying to pack now and I'm not sure what clothes I should bring. Any suggestions on gear? We're going to rent the guns and goggles but I'm not sure if we can rent the other protective gear. Thanks in advance.

Protective gear? Other than a mask, I've never worn any protective gear. If it's outside wear camo cloths. You can get some cheap at a surplus store. If it's indoor, than just dark cloths and long sleeves. If the place rents guns they probably rent those chest protector thing. You won't have any cool battle scars though.

Other Protective Gear? HTFU!

I would only consider additional protective gear if my wife is playing on the opposing team. Last time she hit me in the adam's apple, close range, repeatedly... But shame on me for giving her the weapon in the first place... back to topic, nope, no other gear.

Only to convince critters my garden is not the place to be, or to put the fear of man in to young deer so they have a better chance of being old deer. Launched from a wrist rocket slingshot. I am pro gun I hunt and target shoot. Shooting at another person for fun isn't an idea I find amusing. Only time a gun of any type should be pointed a human being is if that person is a serious theat of harming you your family or friends.

Thanks. This is kind of what I was leaning toward.

I'm pro gun as well. And while your opinion is against this sort of activity, I respectfully disagree.

Not a problem at all .I'm not one of those people that think My way is the only way to think . The reason I take that opinion is, pointing a gun at some one is very serious. Even though paint ball are non lethal, it can lead some younger folks to not taking pointing a gun at some one as serious as they should. As long as your not on my property I would never says you shouldn't be allowed to do it
By the way a solid hit with a paintball in the chest will kill a half grown rabbit stone cold dead at 20 yards out of a slingshot

I think TV and movies do a lot more damage to proper gun habits than paintball ever will. What about learning trigger discipline, shoot or don't shoot (i.e., its your teammate that pops up around a corner). Also, he's 28 and holds a job, so i'm guessing he has the mental capacity to distinguish between paintballs and bullets. (even though the facial expression of his avatar suggests otherwise )

A sweatshirt is plenty, hopefully you won't get too hot in that. FYI, the paint can come through the holes in the face mask, and it doesn't taste good.

FYI: They're not guns, they're markers.

I've played with teenagers on quite a few occasions and it is reassuring when even they correct this terminology. The sport gets a bad rap as it is.

ya ya ya...and they make potato throwers, not cannons.

Dictionary.com

Gun
1. a weapon consisting of a metal tube, with mechanical attachments, from which projectiles are shot by the force of an explosive; a piece of ordnance

Explosive
1. tending or serving to explode: an explosive temper; Nitroglycerin is an explosive substance.

Explode

1. To release mechanical, chemical, or nuclear energy by the sudden production of gases in a confined space: The bomb exploded.

If you know how a paintball gun works, you know that it fits these definitions. I love shooting my gun at other people. It's a hell of a good time. It is what it is.

I don't like em. All my guns fire lead. I might do some simunitions training through a friend of mine, but I never saw the use in paint balling. Paint ball guns are fundamentally different from regular guns, so I don't see the use in playing war with them. Seems like worthless practice. Money that I'd rather spend on lead and bad guy targets. But hey, everyone needs hobbies.

No, i don't. I haven't played in about two years now but i played since i was in middle school. A decent friend of mine is on a pro team. Call it what you want, it's semantics...the thing looks like a gun, it works like a gun, it's a freaking gun. Get over it.

I agree that, tv and movies do more harm than paintball . I did not say crackerjab could not distinguish the difference but there are youg people out there that either don't anyone to teach them or their parents don't care to teach them the basics. Every one is entitled to their opinion and just because your and my opinion are different doesn't mean either opinion is wrong . world would be a mighty boring place if we all agreed on everything

Here is an example of what I use paintballs for. Early last fall I was out in a woods I have control of (gives me someplace to get away and if some asks the owner for permission to hunt he can pan it off on me)I am in this woods enough I can reconize different deer . A young 6 point buck walked right out in front of where I was setting, looked at me and started eating acorns. well that kind of behavior He would not make it and old deer, so I got out my slingshot and a paintball waited till he got close and engaged his warp drive . now he makes wide circles around humans and is still alive this summer

As long as the field checks all the markers and makes sure they're set to fire at less than 300 fps (feet per second), a long sleeve shirt (or sweatshirt if it's not too hot) and long pants are usually more than enough. I do have a chest protector since i found one for cheap. I'd like to get some groin protection too someday just so i won't have to worry about a thing if i ever feel like going "rambo".

I used to play in high school and college. I haven't played for the last 5 or 6 years though... I've got 2 markers that have been sitting around begging to get used. Unfortunately my weekends are usually taken (girlfriend and/or cycling) and having to shell out about $60/weekend on paint alone is kind of a downer.

The funny thing was that when i was in school i always thought "After i graduate and start working i'm going to have all sorts of time and $$$ to spend on paintball finally..."

I have an older PMI Piranha VTL which is a great reliable marker and a 2000 Autococker which i picked up used afew years ago which i fixed up to be a nice sniper marker with stock and scope.
