Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Biannual Sticker Shock!

Yep, it's that time of year.....where I hemorrhage money to pay for texts. Got my list of needed texts for this semester, and the total was $475.00! So far, there could conceivably be some supplementals I need yet.

The joys of the student's life! Gotta love it!

well i imagine those bikeforum bucks are just rolling in for your moderator services, lucky thing you're a rich student

... i was fortunate at my school we "rented" the books, so it was included in our tuition, and we checked them out for the semester. it was always the best when you got the book of someone who highlighted all the good stuff already.

Half.com, Books a Million, Amazon, are your friend. Don't ever pay full price for texts if you can dodge it.

every 5 weeks = another 100 bucks for the wifes texts

347/ch every 5 weeks makes the books look like pocket change.

The textbook industry in this country is a major scam! Why do we need new editions every year? Why is a paperback book $120?

There is something seriously wrong when you force people to buy such expensive books. It is really too bad that the colleges have gotten in bed with the textbook publishers.

Come on over to the philosophy department. We use those hackett anthologies that are generally around $7-$16 brand new. A few years ago I taught a course in American philosophy with public domain etexts. Textbooks are a rip off. Often it is better to buy used:
