tech nerds: cell phones, internet, and my ibook.

I've considered getting an iphone... wondered if I'm able to use the internet via bluetooth on my ibook.
I heard its a big No-NO in the AT&T contract, though.

Any knowledge if the same goes for TMobile's internet phones, or any there are any internet phone services I could use regularly for computer internet access?

reason being, I want an internet phone. I'm unsure if I will get 'net at my new place.. but thought maybe I could get a 2-in-1

Tethering is what you desire? I am not sure about network -cellphone - laptop for browsing. I am guessing it will be SLOW. Although some of my friends exclusively use their crakberrys/iphones and never turn on their computer so thats an option.

If you want to tether, AT&T will charge you out the nose for the privilege of doing it with an iPhone. You're much better off getting something they don't consider a PDA and getting the MediaMax Bundle for $20 that includes unlimited data, and then tethering with a 3G clamshell like the Samsung A-707 (aka. The Sync) that doesn't know the difference between phone browsing and PC tethering.

wow that was all a lot of stuff I don't understand.

i also just discovered the city of MPLS is wireless with USI, for about $20/month I'm connected. I'll probably do that for the puter for now and forego an internet phone.

Tethering is a solution but seems like a pita.
I have no experience tethering though.
I liked my Blackberry and now my iPhone
for getting my email. I love having my calendar
synced between my computer and phone.
When I'm bored (doctors office or oil change)
it's cool for basic web surfing or games or
some other type of productivity.
I'm on T-Mobile too.
