Yeah, they don't bounce so well.

Sister has a Canon Elph, it has shown good service.

Hmmm, bad day for cameras, my Samsung 8 megapixel just failed me.....no reason, though! It starts to power up, and then beeps and shuts off. It's not the batteries. It figures, the warranty ran out 5 days ago! (and no, I didn't throw, drop or otherwise stress the camera). Any ideas, other than it's not a good a camera as I was hoping? It's definitely not as good as my Fujifilm S3000, which is 5 years old and still going strong! Shame, too, because the video mode on the Samsung was great!

I just bought this Nikon for my wife and I think it's an outstanding point-and-shoot camera.

Look for a Sony DSC-P150 or DSC P200 on eBay. There are a few around. I have a P150 and its a really nice point and shoot that has manual aperture/shutter settings (limited aperture settings) which you don't come across any more in point and shoot camera's. The 7.2 MP sensor is a good one and the lens is good quality for such a camera.

Regards, Anthony

Spend the money on anger management counseling instead.

Sub-$150, you can't go wrong with an A5xx-series Canon Powershot. I'm on my second A570IS (The first met a violent, unfortunate end), and I'd buy another. Paid about $130 each. Only downsides really are that it's a bit big (compared to an Elph), and it gets pretty grainy at high ISOs, but probably far less so than comparable cameras.

Looks like it's since been replaced by the A590IS in Canon's line. Still meets your criteria at $149.

I am fan of the Panasonic Lumix LZ5 and such. 6x optical and Image stabilization FTW.

I have an olympus 770. It may fit your throwing needs. It's shock proof up to a 5 foot drop. water proof to 33 feet, freeze resistant and crush proof up to 220 pounds( I tested it, its true) actually, its the camera you used to take the pic of me siu and x at the resturant when I was out your way. You should check it out.

I have this camera, too. It's not sub 150... in fact, it's double that, but if you're prone to throwing cameras and then still expect them to work, it's the ONLY option.

Plus, two 150 cameras and you'll already be into them for as much as this one costs.
