Ten puppeez!

Roo gave birth to ten poopies overnight, two on the 23rd, and eight more on the 24th. I will attempt to post a pic. Edited to add: Hey, the pic worked! Not so great of a pic, though. I e-mailed it to my computer from my mobile phone, saved it as a file, and posted it here, and it got darker in the translation.

Roo is a bloodhound, found as a stray by one of my wife's co-workers, and ended up with us. Counting the days backward, it looks like a certain Great Dane (not ours!) is the daddy dog. (Just to be clear, we did not "allow" this to happen; the breeding occurred before Roo came to live with us.)

Thanks! Very little yelping occurred. For a first-time mom, still a pup herself, Roo did very well, chewing them up and spitting them out, minus the placenta, and biting the umbilical cords at just the right length. We helped her with one through nine; I helped with the first eight, and my sister-in-law with #9. After we all fell asleep from exhaustion, Roo awakened and handled #10 herself, quietly. Now, to find good, responsible homes for TEN little poopies!

Thanks for brightening the pic! I took the pic during a break in the action; that is about half of them, more or less. BTW, they are not striped like chipmunks; that striping went away when they were dry.

Wow. 10 poopies in a night? Sounds like gastroenteritis. Better see a vet.

Here is another somewhat decent pic. This is one popping out, still in the wrapper, i.e., placenta. I believe this was the first one. We moved her to a big box shortly after this, as we did not want the puppies being injured by the wires of the kennel crate. I did not take many pics, as I was the primary assistant with the first eight pups, and my hands stayed messy. My wife got some shots with her digital camera. Now if she will get them loaded into a computer, I can get access to them, but that may take a while.

Awwww!
Cute puppies!!

I wish for them all to find good, loving homes. I'd love to take one, but I know I wouldn't give the best care...my house is full of animals already.

Hmm, looks likes just nine

I may have miscounted; easy do to when they are squirming around like a bunch of little worms. We only saw nine being delivered, but thought we counted ten after we awakened in the morning. I figured she had delivered a tenth overnight, but probably, I counted one twice. We have nine puppeez; life is good.
