Where do you get the names (if any) for your rides?

I name mine after old school Transformers for some reason, the cartoon ones, not that Michael Bay crap. How about you?

Trek and Falcon were nice enough to print them on my bikes for me.

My modern roadie is named 1200. My old school roadie is name Europa. My mountain bike is named 8000.

Characters from books I like. My Xtra is named Friday after the Robert Heinlein character because she can haul anything anywhere.

Neon Genesis Evangelion:

Unit 0, Unit 1, Unit 2, G-Unit, O-Unit.

Ok, G-Unit and O-Unit aren't from Evangelion, but my 2 latest bikes don't quite have an Eva counterpart so the G and the O stand for Gold and Orange respectively.

My conversion fixie is named Japanamount! because it's one of the Japanese built PDG Series Paramount frames.

My commuter/distance bike is Sleipnir, after Odin's 8-legged horse which could travel between worlds.

They get named when it happens to fit the moment.

No-name - lil mtb I'm putting together for a spare commuter
Gold Bike - cause it's a gold bike, nuttin special hybred
Tank - Hummer mtb - cause it weighed a ton, but survived thru alot
Butter - (roadie) when I rode it across the parking lot at the LBS I got it at.
Nu&Blu - hardtail named even before I brought it home
The Toy - first time I took the FS off road.

whatever the bike "feels" like. Betty is my super hot, Campy equipped roadie; the Rig is my beater, grocery getter, townie; Cat is my Catamount (also the name of my cat ); the Schwinn...she is the Schwinn...the bike I lusted after, the super light weight, hardtail of my dreams, she doesn't need another name...

My bikes hate me. One more than the other, actually.

Because of this, I show no affection to them.

I can't even think of real names for all the pooches; one is just named Little Friend.

"Ole' Trusty" is my mountain bike, my first "real" bike and the one I started commuting on. It received it's name when I purchased a used road bike, because within a week the road bike was in pieces and I was rebuilding it; so it became "ole' trusty" because it was still ridable. The road bike is built, fixed gear conversion, however I have not come up with a name. That's what I'll do later, look through baby name books for a name

We have fostered a lot of pooches. They typically receive unremarkable, re-usable names. Little Friend was not the first to be called "Little Friend," but even though he was intended to be a permanent pooch, the name fit him so well it stuck.
