Money back from Allstate? What's the catch?

I open a letter from All State insurance today and there's a check for $750.

I haven't been a policy holder since 2004 when I switched to Geico.

I called the local agent to get the scoop and she says they have been doing audits and returning money that should have been discounted when I was a policy holder. The check is legit!

Freakin Christmas in Sept! I still am waiting for the catch.

When's the last time you got a load of money out of the blue. To me, that's a fair amount of cash.

I got the same check. The reason they gave it to us is because we were quoted too much or put into a different level such as "high risk" and were charged more for insurance.

People complained and an investigation was started. Those who were affected had their policies between a certain year span and you and I fell into it.

Wow nice.

There's a company in NJ call NJ Manufacturer's Insurance and you get dividends at the end of each year. Its not an easy insurance to get, but the coverage is great and the rate's are good apparently.

No kidding. I mean I know it was supposed to be my money to begin with but I don't recall ever being surprised like this.

Given that it's Allstate, it's probably a check for your soul.

I spelled the company name wrong, I hate when that happens, especially in the thread title.

Not that I'm worried about offending the company though.
