The encyclopedia of the future! (as seen from 1945)

x, I thought of you particularly when reading this:
As We May Think by Vannevar Bush, from the July 1945 issue of The Atlantic.

The last page is really cool -- how he predicts information could be stored, linked and annotated in a sort of mechanical electronic encyclopedia.

It also makes me wonder how much our current predictions will fall completely short of what we'll actually see in a bit over 60 years.

All of those are possible, but what I was thinking after reading the article was that a lot of the coolest stuff will be things we aren't even thinking about yet. Or our predictions will only scratch the surface, and miss the really cool technology behind the scenes.
